The scale and scope of World Relief's work can seem overwhelming at times and cause us to feel disconnected from what is happening to individual lives. That's why it's helpful to hear specific examples of how your contributions are making a difference to real people, those we serve and those who are serving. Two examples are below.

Journey to Healing
Alex found insufficient care at Port-Au-Prince
Life can change dramatically in just a few moments. For 27 year-old Alex Dorelieu, those moments came when a car collided with his motorcycle resulting in a compound fracture of his left leg. His next 13 days were spent suffering in a hospital in Port-Au-Prince with just a cast and no pain medication. Knowing he might lose his leg and in need of more extensive care, Alex made the 4-hour trip to Hospital Lumiere. Since arriving, Alex has had 5 surgeries, and with the help of Jimmy in physical therapy, he is now walking with crutches. "The employees have a good heart and provide good care" says Alex. With your prayers and support Hospital Lumiere can continue to provide excellent medical care with compassion and Christian love to Alex and to others in need.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews 6:10

Thankful for the Opportunity to Serve
Interns have played a vital role at Hospital Lumiere by providing education and training in the Nursing Department, setting up payroll and accounting in the Business Office, overseeing and assisting renovation projects in the Facilities Dept. and in teaching for the missionary children. Interns have been extremely helpful in assisting the hospital staff improve health care, efficiently utilize resources and provide support our missionary families.
Bro. Kirk Huber (Francesville, IN) is currently serving a six-month term as a Medical Administration Intern at Hospital Lumiere. Kirk was encouraged and given peace to apply through Acts 16:9 "And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, come over into Macedonia, and help us."
Kirk works closely with the Medical Director in assisting medical teams with organizational and supply needs, initiating and completing special projects, digitizing medical information and by teaching organizational and efficiency techniques to hospital employees. Kirk is extremely thankful for the opportunity and strongly encourages others considering an internship to seek Gods will and to go with courage and run the race that God sets before you.
