Hospital Lumiere

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Gal 6:10

Do you ever step back and marvel at how much the Lord has done? We are surely grateful for what He has enabled us to do at Hospital Lumiere these past four years. Learn about it with this video. Mark the return of a completed missionary term. Read about how your support of the hospital provided relief for a sweet, elderly Christian man.
Hospital Lumiere Video
Sometimes words and still photos just don't capture it. To help our brotherhood better understand the ministry at Hospital Lumiere, World Relief created a short video. Feeling the gratefulness of patients, seeing the hospital facilities, and getting a true sense of the great needs in Haiti are all communicated more effectively with moving pictures and sound.

Hartzler Family Coming Home
Eric Hartzler's three-year term as Director of Nursing has ended and his wife, Jami, and their five children, are preparing to return home to Sardis, Ohio.

"We feel it has been a privilege and a blessing to have served at Hospital Lumiere. God leading us to Haiti came as a surprise to us; we did not plan or expect to be called to mission service. God made His will very clear to us in 2011 through His Word after we read about opportunities at the hospital. God brought the promises of Mk. 10:29-30 to pass in our life and we are so thankful to have witnessed His faithfulness time and again throughout our time in Haiti."
Living and serving at Hospital Lumiere has been a beautiful growing experience for our entire family.  Each one of us can serve Him wherever He places us. As we leave Hospital Lumiere to return to our home in Sardis, Ohio, we hope to continue to serve in any way we can. We are filled with thankfulness and are amazed at all God has brought to pass in our life; blessing us beyond measure."

Please pray for the Hartzler family as they reintegrate into life back in the USA.

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Mark 10:29-30

Waiting Five Years for Relief from Pain
Sylnis Idernier became a Christian as a young man, and believes he is now 81 years old (frequently Haitians do not know exactly how old they are). In 2010, Sylnis came to Hôpital Lumière in search of surgery to correct a hernia. However, because he did not have the money to pay for the surgery he was not able to receive the care he needed as there was no financial assistance available to help him.

At times, the pain and discomfort of his problem prevented Sylnis from working but he did not give up hope. For 5 years he saved as much money as he could from his work as a gardener in a community near the hospital. Sylnis continued to keep faith, hope and a cheerful attitude, confident that God would provide the help he needed.

Finally in 2015, Sylnis returned to the hospital. When he arrived, he found he still did not have enough money to pay for his surgery. But God provides for those that love Him. His church congregation and the hospital's Financial Assistance Fund were able to cover the part of the charges that Sylnis could not pay.

Sylnis is now recovering from his surgery and hopes to return to his work as a gardener soon. As he was discharged from the hospital he expressed "I am so thankful that God provided a way for me to receive the surgery I needed."

Not that I speak in respect of want:for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:11-13
