Saturday, April 25th an earthquake with a 7.8 magnitude rating struck Nepal near the capital city of Kathmandu. Reports to date estimate over 5,000 deaths and possibly more than twice that many injured. Over six million people are affected. Damage is extensive. Buildings and homes collapsed trapping people inside. Many villages are remote and landslides have cut off roads requiring helicopters for access. This is a very poor country and there is great need for help from outside countries. The initial need is for food, water, shelter and sanitary supplies. Also due to the high injury rate there is an exceptional need for teams of medical professionals and medical supplies.

Apostolic Christian World Relief is working with four international Christian relief organizations to help them ship supplies and medical teams to Nepal. This effort will likely be ongoing for an extended length of time. If you would like to assist with this response, please make a donation to the World Relief Disaster Fund.
