Hospital Lumiere

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Gal 6:10

What a precious privilege we have to share God's love with those in need, here and abroad!

This Email update relates recent happenings at the hospital World Relief administers in southern Haiti. Read about relief for an undernourished child, a new baby born to one of our missionary families, opportunities to serve as a teacher, and in other ways.
In Pain - Looking for Help
Five-year-old Betchinie Blanchard was in pain. Family members brought her to Hospital Lumiere seeking help. As it turned out, Betchinie's abdominal pain and other symptoms were the result of malnourishment, a tragedy all too common in Haiti. During her month of treatment at Hospital Lumiere, Betchinie received medication, milk and food. She was very eager to eat, even when the food was too hot and she would continue eating after her little belly was full. Betchinie responded well to the care she received and is now thriving again.

Betchinie's family knew that Hospital Lumiere was a good hospital and they are very grateful for the care she received. Hospital Lumiere cannot solve all of Haiti's problems, but can provide loving care when there are opportunities. It's all part of the mission - "to provide excellent and effective medical care with compassion and Christian love".

Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14

It's a Girl! New Baby at Hospital Lumiere

Cassia Morgan Zimmerman was born at Hospital Lumiere at 1:30pm on January 11th. Cassia was welcomed by her parents Bro. David and Sis. Janella Zimmerman and her big brother Orrin who is 2 ½. The Zimmerman's have been at Hospital Lumiere since January 2014 where David assumed the position of Facilities Manager in September.

Bro. David and Sis. Janella were very comfortable with their decision to have the baby at Hospital Lumiere. Dr. Mario and his team in the OB/GYN Dept are very qualified, and have the capability to monitor the final stages of pregnancy. Surgical intervention in case of difficulties is performed routinely at Hospital Lumiere. In addition, staying in Haiti allowed David to stay focused on his new job responsibilities there.

The Zimmerman's are thankful that all went well and thank you for your prayers.
