As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Gal 6:10

As 2014 comes to a close, we pause to reflect on the progress made at Hospital Lumiere and the people that have been helped, thanks to the good Lord and your support.
Healing to be home for Christmas
A car slammed into Maxime Maitre's motorcycle. The impact caused an open fracture in his left leg and a dislocated hip. Maxime sought help for 4 days, but found nothing to relieve the pain. Hearing that Hospital Lumiere was a place where people would receive good care, Maxime went there for assistance.

A medical team was visiting Hospital Lumiere and Maxime underwent surgery the same day he was admitted. An external fixator was installed and Maxime is currently in traction and is healing well. The physical therapy department is working with him and hopes to have him on parallel bars and crutches soon. The goal: have Maxime resume normal activities and return home for Christmas.

When we spoke to Maxime, he shared this message to those who support Hospital Lumiere - "I received good care and it is a good work that is being done here. Please continue the work so those in need can receive the care and healing they need."
Clinic Renovations Continue
Work continues on a multi-phase project to improve Hospital Lumiere's capability to serve our patients with "Compassion and Christian Love". The new welcome center entrance, receptionist counters and patient waiting area was completed on September 1. Work is now nearing completion on a new ER nurses station, new & larger outpatient clinic exam rooms and a new orthopedic room.

Additional funding is needed to complete future phases of this project including emergency rooms with isolation areas for cholera and other infectious diseases, a secure medical supply room, additional clinic exam rooms and specialty exam rooms for eye and dental clinics. When completed, these improvements will provide additional and improved patient flow.

Completing the clinic renovation project will cost an estimated $28,000. If you feel moved to help this project and the ongoing needs of the hospital financially, please consider a gift at this time. Donations can be made online with credit card or by mailing a check. Please see the sidebar at left.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him.

Construction Workers
Electricians, cabinet makers, plumbers and carpenters are needed to continue the renovations.

Medical Practitioners

Physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, pharmacists, laboratory techs, radiology techs, ultrasound techs, occupational and physical therapists, nurses and other specialists who are willing to assist with general medical and surgical care are invited to participate on scheduled teams or as individually arranged. Periods of service can be from one week to 3 months.

Ministers

Apostolic Christian Church ministers are needed to accompany medical and construction teams to Hospital Lumiere. Team ministers coordinate daily devotions and provide spiritual support for the team members, hospital patients and for our missionary families.

See the World Relief website for the most up-to-date information on work teams.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Thank you for the generous support you've provided Hospital Lumiere throughout 2015. We are trusting the Lord to continue to guide us in the coming year.

In Christian love,
