Greetings in the love of Jesus,
What a privilege we have to serve others in need of health care whether near to our place of birth or in a foreign country. May the Lord Jesus bless each of our efforts as we serve others to His glory.
 All of us, in varying ways, have needs and are in need of the help of our "families" (in this case, my medical provider family). Some needs are more obvious than others and, for those of you who have visited, the needs here in Haiti for equipment and supplies are immense. It is for this reason that I am sharing a specific request. This method of communication to share an opportunity to help will be used more often in the future.
The current requests for assistance are designated below. The equipment does not need to be new and if you are aware of remodeling at one of the facilities around you and could secure these items that would be wonderful. If they are partially or totally donated this would also be appreciated. We are a 501C(3) organization (can be given direct to HL or through ACWR). We can arrange for shipping and will bring them to Haiti on a sea container out of Bluffton.

 Every month, a team of medical providers is scheduled to help further the work at the hospital. We are in need of volunteers for the coming year. Please review the schedule of teams below, and consider joining a team. There are ample opportunities for non-medical volunteers to serve on Inventory Teams.
If you see dates that work for your schedule, but are unsure if you have the appropriate skill set, please don't hesitate to still contact us. The primary purpose of the team is listed, but we are glad to accommodate medical providers' schedules when feasible. Work Teams for Hospital Lumiere
2014 September 13 - 20: Cervical Cancer Screening
Using simple, non-invasive screening tests, we plan to set up a cervical cancer screening clinic. Positive screening test results are referred to the hospital for further testing. Physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses needed.
2014 November 8 - 15: Nursing Proficiencies
Help us provide continuing education to the Haitian nursing staff at Hospital Lumiere. Nurses and advanced practice providers needed.
2014 December 13 - 20: General Medical
The purpose of this team will largely be determined by the skills of the volunteers.
2015 January 10 - 17: Medical Inventory Team
Anyone is welcome, although some team members with background in the medical field would be appreciated. This team will take inventory and help organize and clean either the central supply depot, the supply depot on each service, or the orthopedic depot - an essential task to keep the facility running smoothly and with the necessary supplies.
2015 February 7 - 14: Specialty Team (Eye)
Initially this clinic will offer optometry services with expansion to ophthalmology care as the need is established. Therefore, optometrists, opticians, and additional personnel necessary for providing eye care with refraction are encouraged to volunteer for this outreach.
2015 March 7 - 14: Cervical Cancer Screening
2015 April 11 - 18: Medical Inventory Team
2015 May 9 - 16: Dental Team
Dental assistants and hygienists, and Dentists needed to provide a dental clinic for cleaning and simple dental procedures.
2015 June 13 - 20 - Cervical Cancer Screening
2015 July 11 - 18 - Open
As the Lord provides volunteers, we will adjust the purpose of this volunteer team.
2015 August 8 - 15 - Medical Inventory Team
