Your Involvement

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:10

Most of you are aware that a tornado caused significant damage to the Washington, IL community around noon on Sunday. At least four homes of the Washington church family have been destroyed or severely damaged by this storm. This community is in need of our prayers as they struggle to cope with the situation at hand.

  World Relief Assistance

Local World Relief Reps are in contact with emergency management officials in the community and will be communicating the opportunities to help in the recovery efforts.

We expect that there will be a period of time where no outsiders will be allowed into the disaster area. For this reason, we encourage you to wait until the local World Relief representatives have secured permission to enter the effected areas. Opportunities for volunteers to assist in the recovery process will be communicated at that time. This could come as early as later today or it may take several days.

We will make every effort to communicate the opportunities to you as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please contact your local World Relief Representative as they put together teams of volunteers and assemble appropriate tools and equipment for the cleanup effort. They would like to be ready to deploy when the way opens up. WR equipment in Fairbury is being sent to the Washington area.

 Immediate Clean Up Assistance

Important:
Please contact Bro. Les Schambach if you have an interest in helping in the immediate clean up.  He needs to know the following:
  • How many you have available in your group.
  • When your group is available.
  • What equipment you can bring with you.
There may be opportunity for small groups today and tomorrow. Please contact Bro. Les first before you come.

In His service,
Les Schambach
