Your Involvement

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:10
Greetings!

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord!

Moore Tornado Most of us are aware of the tragic tornadoes in Oklahoma that abruptly impacted the lives of hundreds of families.

The town of Moore got hit the hardest on Monday when multiple tornadoes ripped through the state, flattening entire neighborhoods and killing at least 24 people, including nine children.

As the images and stories emerged, we saw the devastation and suffering was tragic.

  Initial Response by World Relief

Moore Tornado

Our initial response to the needs of tornado victims is through partner organizations that have access to the devastated area.

Moore Tornado Food and personal hygiene items along with a Bible make up a Family Food Box. Each box contains enough food and personal care items to sustain a family of four for 4 to 5 days. World Relief is providing funds to purchase the items that go into these boxes and fuel for the shipment of these boxes to Oklahoma. Upon arrival in Oklahoma, the Salvation Army has the responsibility of distributing these boxes to those in need.

The first two semi loads of these boxes have arrived in Moore and additional shipments will be sent early next week. An estimated 10 to 15 semi loads of these boxes is anticipated.

Please be prayerful for all of the victims of this disaster that those who are lost will find the Lord through this time of great need. In addition, please pray that the Lord will direct as we seek to do His will in serving those who have lost so much.

Moore Tornado At this time, access to the disaster area is restricted. Opportunities for future "boots on the ground" involvement will be evaluated and communicated when a determination has been made.

  World Relief Disaster Fund

The Disaster Fund is used to help relieve hunger and suffering in domestic and international disaster areas. Although grants are usually made three times a year when the World Relief Board meets to consider requests for aid, a disaster of this proportion can't wait for the next meeting.

Moore Tornado

We have committed funds for the relief in Oklahoma and anticipate sending more once we know how we can best help. The USA Committee is assessing the needs and will monitor the distribution of these funds.
