Greetings!
We hope you are enjoying this Thanksgiving season with your family and friends. We were able to take time out yesterday, in spite of the fact that Thanksgiving is not a Honduran holiday, and enjoy a "feast" with our co-workers. We love this time of year because it causes us to pause and think about all our blessings. Of course grace and salvation are at the top of our list, followed by family and friends. Among our greatest blessings are our supporters who work so hard to keep us moving forward as a mission. Thank you!
As the year is coming to a close, please consider Mission UpReach in your year-end giving. Look below at some exciting news about how you can double your giving! Blessings, Phil and Donna Waldron Mission UpReach www.missionupreach.com |

Double Your Money!
$60,000 Year End Matching Fund for Year End Fund Raiser! Once again, thanks to a small group of dedicated MUR supporters, we have the opportunity to match dollar for dollar, up to sixty thousand dollars, any donations given towards our year end fund raiser. That means that if you are able to ear mark a donation to Mission UpReach for this fund raiser, this fund will match your donation giving you a 2 for 1 impact for every dollar donated. All of us here at Mission UpReach are grateful to God for how he sustains our ministries. Godly people from all across the United States contribute on a regular basis in order to support our various ministries. The truth is however that the amount of donations that come in to our sponsoring church varies from month to month. In the past, this "up and down" cycle from month to month has sometimes made it very difficult to maintain our ongoing ministries. Last year, God used a number of wise counselors to help us form the plan of doing a year end fundraiser with matching funds from some generous supporters of the mission. The impact on our day to day operations has been very, very positive. It has allowed us to consistently maintain our church planting efforts, our "Boot Camp" leadership training series, our DESEO public school children's ministries, as well as many other initiatives and efforts. Please consider making a donation towards our year end effort. You can give now to our year end campaign by clicking here: |
Another Free Union Legalizes Their Marriage
This picture is one showing the wedding ceremony, prescribed by Honduran law, uniting Antonio Rosa and Sonia Dubón in marriage. This couple has been living together as a man and wife, (without having been married) for at least 14 years. They have two children together Darwin (12) and David (10).
When we first met Antonio, (nicknamed Guyabo), Phil began talking with him about God's plan for marriage and the family. Guyabo offered many reasons for why he shouldn't have to legalize his marriage with Sonia. One of those reasons was, "if I marry her and we get divorced I can never marry anybody else".
This type of mentality is prevalent in the society and culture in which we are ministering. In fact, the norm here is that couples do not marry and instead opt for "free unions". This has led to a state of "serial marriages" instead of the permanent, stable plan for marriage and the family that God designed.
Through a combination of teaching and offering economic incentives (via paying for the documents that the Law requires the couple to have) we are happy to report that MUR has been able to help nearly 30 couples legalize their marriages over the past three years.

New Church Building in Santa Rosa Over the past couple of months we have been sharing the good news of being able to move the local church into a temporary shed like building that we have built on the property bought via cooperation with the local church and MUR donors. Here are some pictures that share with you what it looks like. You can see that in the exterior picture, that the "Pine Tree House" that we disassembled at our old location and reconstructed here on the property, is just behind the metal shed like structure. This past month we began worshiping in the new location. We have seating capacity for 187 people. Our hope is that we will be able to continue helping the local church this coming year by recruiting short term missions teams to come and help construct a permanent building on the additional property that we have to the side of the structure that you can see in the picture. Perhaps you could organize a group from your church to come and work for a week on the new structure. Please spread the word about this opportunity. If you are interested, you can communicate through Donna via email at: waldronfam@me.com

Would You Pray for Some Specific Things?
We know that many of you pray for us and God's mission here on a daily basis. We know because you have told us so and also because we feel the results of your prayers. Many who visit marvel at what God has done, which is hard to transmit in words in newsletter form. Here are a few items you could be praying for specifically if you would: Youth Outreach: We have successfully grown our youth group to approximately 50 utilizing our DESEO ministry to reach out and bring them in followed by meaningful and exciting events, like serving at the local hospital, to help the teens know they have a place in the Body of Christ. Please pray for continued success and for each of these young people and their specific challenges.
Dulce Refugio: This is our safe house ministry to young women in need of a chance for a better future. Due to the nature of the situations from which these girls come, this ministry requires a lot of time and energy. But, praise God we can see positive results. Please pray for these young women, the others that God will send our way, and our stamina and wisdom in ministering to these young women.
Our Fund Raising Efforts: Please pray that God will work in the hearts of many to respond to our year end fundraising effort so that we can continue to work as we have and do even more in 2013. We have felt the pinch of the economic situation in the US this year and pray that many will be moved to invest in things eternal where a return is guaranteed! |

Note From Donna
Phil, Laura and I just returned from a wonderful two weeks with the Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longview, Texas. Pine Tree has sent over 60 individuals in the past 3 years to western Honduras for various types of short term mission efforts, from medical brigades, to school outreach, to construction efforts. Not only that, but they play a very significant role in our family support, both financial as well as emotional and spiritual.
Our main focus as missionaries is to reach the lost and help those in need, all in the name of Jesus Christ. We want to remain strong and faithful to what calls us to do as His servants. In order to do that, and because we too are flesh and blood, we often need personal encouragement and support.
Many individuals outside of the Pine Tree family provide that type of love and support as well. But, today I am especially thankful for our family at Pine Tree, their hospitality, their financial support, their encouragement, and their prayers as we continue to work here.
We may be the privileged ones to be on the ground doing the work, but those of you who support us in prayers and encouragement are also doing the work. Thank you for being there for us and keeping us in your prayers!

1400 Backpacks For Poor School Children
Wow...what a response we have gotten to our school backpack program. Here is a photo of some of the backpacks that had arrived early last month in our Longview, TX warehouse location. In total to date, we have received a combination of backpacks and donations sufficient for 1,400 individual backpacks.
We are ecstatic with this response. This is a sufficient number to be able to distribute one backpack per child in each of the thirteen public schools where our DESEO program operates. Each backpack is filled with notebooks, pencils and other supplies for the school year. And in addition, with the donations we have received MUR is buying and distributing a small Bible to each of the children as well.
Now begins the process of loading the backpacks into a container and shipping it to Honduras. Please be in prayer about this project. Over the last two years it has become more and more difficult to deal with the customs officials in the port of entry here. The process of getting the container released from customs can sometimes take an enormous amount of time. We anticipate receiving the container and being able to distribute the backpacks to the children just prior to the beginning of their new school year in February 2013. |
