March 2013
ISSUE 33
Greetings!
If you haven't seen that first robin or redwing blackbird, make no mistake; they'll be showing up soon!  It's fascinating to watch how wildlife along the Muskegon River gets it:  the action is predominantly on the north side of the river, the perfect spot to catch those ever more powerful warming rays from the sun after having endured winter's siege of grey, white, and black. Whitetail deer, so elusive and furtive most of the year, stand broadside to the sun unconcerned as we float by.  Turkeys, now able to turn oak leaves without burrowing through snow, are seemingly everywhere. The osprey and eagles, along with the red tailed hawks, patrol the river valley in ever increasing numbers.  Pay attention: Mother Nature and her wild ones are heralding the rebirth and promise of spring.  Here's hoping you and yours can find a way to witness it all.  Truly, anticipation is in the air for a new year: new young, new growth, and, yes, new hatches with new trout eager to feed. We've prepped the lines, tied and purchased the flies, and bought the best in fly rod technology. 2013, we're looking to you for our best year yet!
