COMMUNICATING FOR SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOP
JANUARY 31st, 1-5PM; ECOLAND INSTITUTE, CARY, NC

It is easy to engage your own peers, but what about people with totally different worldviews, personalities or goals? When stakeholders do not share your values or mindset, helping them understand the importance of enacting more sustainable practices is tough.

This workshop is intended for change agents and project leaders in the sustainability, social or environmental fields that feel the need to communicate more effectively to get the results you want.

Thank you for your INDY Give! donations to Abundance NC! We raised over $3250, helping us do the following this year:
  • make a deeper impact on more kids about sustainable food and renewable energy next year by bringing more schools in need on field trips to the Eco-Inductrial Campus in Pittsboro.
  • facilitate skill-sharing throughout the Triangle with our expanded DIY Workshops series in more urban and rural areas.
  • bring better speakers and educators to our 3rd Annual Climate Adaptation Conference for Farmers in February 2015.
  • spend more time planning educational, impactful programming to strengthen our community and less time scrambling for funds to run them.

WILL CHATHAM PARK KEEP ITS 'GREEN' PROMISES?
BY TAMI SCHWERIN

In public hearings they told us they were a "green developer," and that they proposed to build a "carbon neutral" community. To the astonishment of many, they are now burning the green crowns and limbs they cannot sell - destroying our air quality and leading some to suspect they lack the necessary awareness to substantiate their claims...

WEEKLY SUSTAINABILITY TOURS & SCHOOL TOURS
Free tours held at the Plant every Sunday at 1pm.
Head to 220 Lorax Ln, Pittsboro, NC.
Ever wanted to see in person, an off-grid tiny house inhabited by a local salvaged jewelry artist, a biofuels factory that makes biodiesel, a micro-distillery crafting rum from local sorghum, fish being raised for food in an indoor closed aquaponics system, amazing and extensive organic gardens, a giant chess set, bee hives, crops being raised under a field of giant solar panels, and more?

Well, head on over to our home at The Plant, an Eco-Industrial Park in Pittsboro, North Carolina, for a Sustainability Tour.

We hold weekly tours and also schedule special group tours that educate and open the minds of thousands of children and adults, on renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, pollinator habitat, medicinal and culinary herbs, conservation, edible landscapes, composting, water conservation, hydroponics, aquaponics, vermiculture digestion, and green building.
