Garden Wines, Meads & Ciders
Workshop
with Nan Chase and DeNeice Guest
Saturday, June 22nd
from 11am-3pm at the Plant

Take your garden to a new level of productivity by mastering garden wines.
This hands-on workshop introduces a range of homegrown wines, meads, and hard ciders that are easy and economical to make using flowers, herbs, fruits, vegetables, vines and edible root crops.
DeNeice Guest and Nan Chase, co-authors of the new book Drink the Harvest, introduce principles of fermentation and then guide participants through all the techniques used to craft garden wines, including proper harvesting and preparation, equipment and sanitation, managing the "must," racking and bottling, labeling, and troubleshooting.
Workshop is limited to 20 participants above age 21. Pre-registration and payment required. Bring a bag lunch.
Each participant receives a complete winemaking kit for starting garden wines.
MEET THE INSTRUCTORS:
DeNeice C. Guest (right) has been making garden wines, meads, syrups, and teas for more than 30 years. A former NASA scientist, she lives in Asheville, N.C., and created many of the 40-plus original beverage recipes in Drink the Harvest.
Nan K. Chase (left) is the author of Eat Your Yard! and also writes for Carolina Gardener, Southern Living and The American Gardener, and blogs for Mother Earth News. She makes wines and ciders. She gardens in Asheville, N.C.

Fair Game Beverage Company is Chatham County's first legal distillery and they are having a grand opening on a warm summer night down at the Plant in Pittsboro. JUNE 20th {6 PM - 9:30PM} Wear your favorite carnival outfit--it will be like a trip to the fair. We'll be reading Tarot cards, eating fire, (and local pig) and serving up ports and cordials from local ingredients. Human cannonball not yet confirmed. Get ready for some exciting acts, tastings, music, and secrets. Dance cards issued at the gate. Best of all come to a solstice renewal with old friends...
