Terrarium Building 101
THIS SATURDAY, May 10th

from 1-4pm at Fifth Season Gardening Co!
106 S. Greensboro St., Carrboro, NC

Having trouble with your green thumb? Terrariums may be the perfect step into the plant world for those who are looking for an in.

These "little worlds" can be made easily and with the right combination of elements and functions, require very little maintenance. Join Jason Ellis, resident terrarium expert of Fifth Season Gardening Company, and learn how to master these tiny masterpieces.

Starting with a history of terrariums to give a cultural context, Jason will walk participants through the function of each layer and guide everyone through the building the terrarium of their choice (either a succulent terrarium or a moisture loving terrarium), which they will take home! All participants will also receive Jason's signature terrarium building tool, which he invented to make the process easier when hands are just too big.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:

Jason Ellis started making terrariums in middle school with a propagated Jade plant in a small bottle.  He has been fascinated by the combination of plants and glass ever since.  Jason spent several years making and selling terrariums on consignment, at fairs, and wholesale.  However, these days at Fifth Season, he prefers to help others make their own creations and hopes his passion inspires others.

Outside of Fifth Season, Jason maintains several decorative table-top hydroponic containers, a planted aquarium, and a couple small terrariums.  He has also been designing a large vivarium, a decorative plant cabinet, and a couple window bottle gardens..  He truly enjoys planning and building plant containers of all sorts.
