Issue No. 94
Dear Abundant Ones,

We are thrilled to have two live online auctions beginning today! It's not everyday we get the chance to do this.

One auction is for a very cool Giant Twist Freedom DX electric assist bike and the other is for a SOLARSHEAT solar thermal home heating system (scroll down to see pictures!). They're both used. They're both in fantastic condition. They both were donated by generous friends hoping to help support the Abundance Foundation. Make a bid (here and here) and spread the word! Thank you!

Check out the amazing line up of DIY workshops beginning this month and running through June. Check them out on the right and register here!

Our 6th Annual Briar Chapel 5k & Kids' Dash is coming up on April 12th, 2014 at Briar Chapel's Boulder Park! See the fun photos from last year! We need your help to make it our best one yet. Register today and bring a friend! More details below!

We'd love to partner with you to help us put on our Briar Chapel 5k, a wonderful community spirit and sustainability event at Boulder Park in Briar Chapel.

100% of proceeds go to The Abundance Foundation.

Through Abundance's varied projects, coalitions and gatherings, we celebrate the abundance of good food, renewable energy and other

resources here in North Carolina, and we empower people to take action to create their ideal community. Offering workshops, sustainability tours for all ages, farming adaptation conferences, and working diligently to improve school lunch lunches, Abundance is helping make sustainable attainable in Chatham County and beyond.

We've built this race up over many years and it's a great way to connect with Chapel Hill and Pittsboro folks. Last year we had record attendance of over 300 people running to support local food shed, renewable energy education, and community resilience. It's a lot of fun....more below!

2.) 2011 Giant Twist Freedom DX electric assist bike in Anthracite/Red
You've never felt anything like it. What looks like a slick city bike is actually an entirely new way of riding. Giant's Hybrid Cycling Technology uses battery-based energy to seamlessly enhance your pedaling power. It's quiet, it's refined and, unlike old-fashioned electric bikes, it still rides like a bicycle-only easier and faster.

With the extreme winter weather recently brought on by the unusual polar vortex, there is great confusion about climate impacts and global warming. This 90 minute documentary film, "Chasing Ice," portrays the long-term impact on ancient glaciers. This, in turn, contributes to sea level rise and changes in weather patterns.

Michelle was in Alaska this

summer and saw firsthand the receding of the glaciers. The views in this film are spectacular and had a great impact on her decision to lobby for this cause. We hope you will join us for this free event. Please help us spread the word by sending this to all of your concerned friends and family.
