Greetings!

Mental Illness has received a lot of attention over the past few months. Raising awareness has not necessarily reduced stigma. All NAMI education classes seek to reduce stigma through education and over the past few months we changed the lives of many families in our Family to Family and Basics Class.

NAMI Clermont County could not operate without the generous support of everyone reading this newsletter. April is the month when everyone must renew their support of the Kroger Charity Giving Program. You will not find it suprising when I tell you-money is tight at NAMI Clermont County.

Many ask, "How can I help."  This is one way to help with out changing anything you are currently doing. Whether you shop at Kroger once a month or once a day, please follow the instructions to make NAMI Clermont County your Charity of Choice for the Kroger Giving Program.

Seriously, follow the instructions below and help support programs that change lives.

Thank you.

How to Build and Sustain the COURAGE needed for Recovery

7:30 p.m.

CEU's now available

Presenter:  Charles Brady, MD, PhD, ABPP

Director, OCD and Anxiety Treatment Program

Lindner Center of Hope

Recovery from a mental illness requires that an individual and their family address many  challenges and acquire additional skills.  These challenges and skills will very frequently involve confronting one's fears and pushing oneself into situations that hold both hope and uncertainty.  One of the most vital, and yet overlooked skills to keep fears and the power of the unknown from slowing down an individual's recovery is the ability to build and sustain courage.  This presentation will introduce and highlight the various factors that have been shown by research and clinical practice to be crucial to the development and maintenance of courage. The presenter will discuss how to apply these principles practically into the process of recovery from a mental illness.

Dr. Brady directs the Lindner Center of HOPE's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety treatment program and oversees the Supported Employment program.  He leads the research and development of the Center's psychiatric rehabilitation programming.  The goal of the program is to teach people to set goals for their lives and guide them through illness management and recovery.  Dr. Brady is a clinical psychologist with 20 years of experience on the staff and faculty of the University of Cincinnati's Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Brady is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
