As summer approaches, I am reminded of a recent documentary that I watched about an uninhabited island out in the Pacific called Palmyra Atoll. It is one of the largest living national conservatories in the world. Its population includes 15,000 acres of untouched coral reefs, thousands of sea birds, a thriving population of coconut crabs and 4 humans working for the Island Conservation Of Palmyra. Used in the 1940's as a military base, the island was unintentionally introduced to rats. The rats caused havoc to the wildlife, eating bird eggs and native crabs and destroying the natural ecosystem. Scientists have worked hard removing the rats, and the ecosystem has healed. This pristine piece of paradise is virtually untouched; however the results of our footprint on the environment are still evident as trash washes on this beach daily. In Genesis 2:15 the Bible says, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." If we each try a little harder to conserve our natural resources and protect our environment, we too can witness the beauty and magnificence of this amazing world that God has given to us to look after. After all, we must take care of this Earth so that future generations can treasure it and enjoy too. Happy Summer!

Prayer: Lord, you made this Majestic creation we call Earth. We are so grateful and can see you in all of its beauty and serenity. Please help us to be better stewards of this amazing gift. In your name we pray

Amen

Deacon, Fellowship
handymenCalling All Handymen and Women!
The church has started the large task of repairing and updating the stairs, ramps and walkways that provide access to our modular classrooms. We will inspect and repair as necessary each structure and then replace the deck boards and the handrails to provide a safer, more attractive entry. We are currently working on Modular Two, but our plan includes all three buildings. The work will be ongoing from Monday to Saturday throughout the summer. If you have even a small amount of time and are willing to help, please email Si Seiler ([email protected]).
pkPremise Keepers
Our June Premise Keepers will be on June 18 at 8 AM as usual, with breakfast and devotion. The major activity will be to lightly prune ALL the shrubs on campus. We will need lots of folks, rakes, blowers, and pick ups to get this done in a timely way. This is an important activity as we set ourselves up for the busy efforts we face in the fall and early winter.
freedomCelebrate Freedom: Put a Ring On It!
Join Women's Ministry for a fun and casual evening reflecting on our freedoms and making a beautiful flag wreath for the July 4th holiday! And of course, we will have some fun snacks! Meet us in Room B103 on Tuesday, June 21, from 6:30-8:30 PM. No real crafting skills needed - costs are estimated, but will not exceed $20. You must RSVP as soon as possible so we can pre-purchase your supplies. We would love to see some of our crafty, younger ladies! Click here to see a sample of the wreath and to RSVP. Registration may close automatically due to the number of RSVPs.  Please contact Leslie directly at [email protected] to see if additional supplies may be available.

After a rainy and dreary spring, it's almost summer! Time for relaxation, fun and quality time with family. All those plans for fun can be quickly affected by things like sunburn, heat stroke, insect bites and food poisoning. Over the next several weeks, we'll examine some of these summer woes and how to best prevent them or deal with them once they occur. As the heat index in our area has already hit 100, we'll start with heat stroke. Click here for information on what to do to avoid heat stroke.
