Greetings!

This past Sunday the Praise Band performed a song, excellent by the way, called "If We Are The Body". It moved me immensely, particularly one verse. After the service I was compelled to find the lyrics via Google. As I read the lyrics again, I focused on what this meant to me. Again I was touched by the power of the words and the imagery in my mind.
It spoke of inclusion, acceptance and understanding. All I could envision was that Jesus loves all of his children and accepts us with openness. The verse that so moved me was "Jesus paid much too high a price for us to pick and choose who should come" Contemplate that for a moment.
It is a period of time in our society where past "norms" are being discussed and contemplated. It is a time that challenges us to consider what is "acceptable", right, just and true. It is a time that begs for open and honest discussion. Discussion that will further our own understanding and consideration.
Our denomination, as well as many others, is facing challenges that, at times, draw deep lines of potential confrontational situations. However, as Christians, we must remember that our love, acceptance and understanding of others is paramount. Our arms must always be out stretched and the love of Christ prevail to all.
As we consider the multitude of controversial issues today, such as same sex marriage, immigration, health care, etc., we must always remember the price that Christ paid for us. We must remember that price was much too high for us to pick and choose who should come. We need to pray that we accept all, just as Jesus does.
"Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." Romans 15:7

Morning Glory Circle
The Morning Glory Circle is a friendly group of ladies who meet twice a month to study God's word, enjoy fellowship, and support each other through prayer. The group also provides two dinners a year for our WIHN guests at WFPC. Additional projects have included making "Little Dresses for Africa" and Church World Service layettes.
We will be using the Horizons study from the Presbyterian Women's organization of the PCUSA in 2015 and part of 2016. The study, called "Come to the Waters", discusses the symbolism of water in both the Old and New Testament. Topics include life-giving water by baptism, streams of mercy through God's forgiveness, waters of justice and righteousness, and God's deliverance from dangerous waters.
Meetings are held in the Youth Room upstairs in the Christian Life Center on the second and fourth Thursdays, September - June (meeting just the second Thursday in November and December). Meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. and end around 11:00 a.m. Our Bible study leader is Sally Gadd.
The first meeting is on September 10. Study books are available through Betty Franks ([email protected]) or at the first meeting.
For more information, please contact Ann Cobb at [email protected] or find us on Rally Day.

The burgers are being provided and Larry Roper is cooking them for us. Don Steele is coordinating the rest of the picnic items. Please contact him at 919-217-8765 or [email protected] by September 8th to let him know of your intention to attend and what you can bring for our picnic.
Our program will be hearing about our "summer stories"/experiences; the great, not so great or otherwise. Come join us for the kick off of our 2015/2016 JOY Group year.

GOOD NEWS!!
When the youth of WFPC make the commitment to join the church, we as Christians re-commit ourselves by supporting them along their faith journey. A new Confirmation class will be starting in September and will be meeting each Sunday for several months. They need your support.
There are two ways that you can support this year's confirmation class. The first is through prayer for our 8th grade youth, teachers, mentors and families. This is a very life-changing year for the youth as they work hard at claiming Jesus as their Lord and Savior and figuring out what to do about that declaration.
Helping provide Bibles for our class is another way to care for them. The Bibles cost $15.00 and your favorite Bible verse will be given to the youth that receives your gift. Please contact Randall Keen ([email protected]) or write a check to WFPC. Don't forget to write
"confirmation Bible" in the memo line. Thanks for the prayers and support.

Backpack Buddies
"North Carolina ranks among the 10 worst states with children under 18 years of age who are food insecure on a regular basis:  in N.C. over 1 in 4. (26.7%)
This week we began our 7th year supporting Backpack Buddies.  The ongoing support of this congregation has provided over 60,000 nutritious weekend meals for 45 elementary children at Wakefield and North Forest Pines Elementary Schools.  Information on what to donate can be found on the church website, brochures located upstairs in the information rack hanging on the wall between the Narthex and Preschool, and downstairs in the CLC.  Donations should be placed in the red and green Buddy wagons located in the donation closet upstairs and in the CLC downstairs.
One of the largest fundraisers for the Backpack Buddy Program in Wake Forest, The Backpack Buddy Run, will take place on Saturday, September 26th, beginning at 8 AM. All proceeds are donated to the Backpack Buddies Programs in Wake Forest.  Posters and cards with information will be placed both upstairs and downstairs at the info centers. The event consists of a 5K chip-timed run, a non-competitive 1-mile family walk as well as the highly popular itty-bitty-Buddy dash for runners aged 6 and under.  Please consider volunteering to help and/or putting together a team and participating in this well-run, fun-filled activity.  Go to this site:  http://milesintosmiles.com/buddy-run/registration/
