Premise Keepers
MARK IT IN YOUR CALENDARS!
The premise keepers will meet for another great breakfast in the CLC on June 27 at 8 AM. Afterwards, we have some extensive outdoor work to begin. We also have some inside work that needs attention. Bring buckets, rags, cleaning supplies, pruning tools, small chain saws, leaf blowers and rakes. We could also use 3 or 4 pickup trucks to move the pruning debris. Rain or Shine!! See ya there and bring someone!!
Come a little early if you can for fellowship, a devotion, and to meet our PK chefs! and remember - whatever help you can offer and however much time is just fine.

 What Are Your
Spiritual Gifts?

The Bible tells us that every believer is given a Spiritual gift for the purpose of building up God's Church (I Corinthians 12:7). This is exciting news! God has given each of us a special gift. As disciples, our responsibility is to discern, experiment with and use our Spiritual gifts. Spiritual gifts are special talents, abilities or yearnings that God gives to every disciple for the purpose of building up the church. A Spiritual Gift Inventory will help you begin to discover what your Spiritual gifts might be. The information you glean from the results of this inventory can be used to discern more clearly God's will for your ministry in life, and through the mission and ministries of Wake Forest Presbyterian. You can complete a Spiritual Inventory online at  here or you can grab a paper copy in the work room or near the entry of the CLC. We will tabulate your results and get back to you with your top Spiritual Gifts and suggestions for how God may be calling you to use those gifts.

Parish Nurses
Summer Health

Been hot recently? If you answer that question with a "no", please make an appointment with your care provider immediately! With temperatures in the 90's and the heat index in triple digits, the risk of heat-related illnesses increases dramatically. Infants and young children, adults over 65, individuals with some chronic illnesses and those who take some medications are at higher risk for heat-related problems than the general population. But so are adolescents and individuals who work outside! Check out this article Click here
for several pages that contain an overview of heat-related illnesses, symptoms of various heat-related illnesses, treatments and prevention. The second article Click here provides information about heat exhaustion, risk factors for heat exhaustion and appropriate treatments. Taking extra care of yourself and children on hot days is important and well worth the time and energy

Knit and Crochet
Ministry
Need something to do while you are relaxing on vacation this summer? How about knitting or crocheting a simple men's hat or kid's scarf! We are still working hard toward our goal to provide some love and comfort to the homeless, kids in need, and WIHN guests this coming fall. More info and patterns are available on the website under the Connect/ Adult Ministry/Women's Group tabs. Or contact Leslie Olmo, at [email protected] if interested.
Greetings!

I came across this quote from C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) that I thought worth sharing...

The thing has happened: the new step has been taken and is being taken. Already the new men [and women] are dotted here and there all over the earth. Some...are still hardly recognizable, but others can be recognized. Every now and then one meets them. Their voices and faces are different from ours; stronger, quieter, happier, more radiant. They begin where most of us leave off. They are, I say, recognizable; but you must know what to look for. They will not be very like the idea of 'religious people' which you have formed from your general reading. They do not draw attention to themselves. You tend to think that you are being kind to them when they are really being kind to you. They love you more than other men do, but need you less.... They will usually seem to have a lot of time; you will wonder where it comes from. When you have recognized one of them, you will recognize the next one more easily. And I strongly suspect (but how should I know?) that they recognize one another immediately and infallibly, across every barrier of color, sex, class, age and even creeds. In that way, to become holy is rather like joining a secret society. To put it at the very lowest, it must be great fun.

How does one recognize believers? We sometime wish it were as simple as a style of clothing, a banner or a bumper sticker. As C.S. Lewis points out they can be recognized; perhaps not easily at first, but in time persuasively. [From Christian Believer: Knowing God with Heart and Mind]. Are you recognizable? Do others recognize you?

Heavenly Father - Let us live so that we not only recognize but can be recognized as a true Holy Believer. Let us enjoy the fun! Amen

A Mountain Top Experience

Our Everest Vacation Bible School was an AMAZING week of learning about how to conquer challenges through God's mighty power! We learned that God has the power to provide, comfort, heal, forgive, and love forever. Our mountain expedition reminded us to "hold on" and trust in God!

Thank you to all of the many, many volunteers who came each night to be a part of this AWESOME VBS! They sang, they danced, they laughed, they acted, they created and they shared the God's love to over 130 precious children each night! Our VBS Leadership team--the best in the world! They have been working hard since January and it showed! Thank you for a job well-done!

Each night, we welcomed 13 children from a local Wake Forest neighborhood to our VBS. Our van drivers picked them up and carried them home. They were graciously received by our church family, ate with a wonderful dinner with our church family (thanks to our GREAT dinner crew), learned about God's love for them...and became a part of our extended church family.

Our VBS children collected $190 in just one night to send to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program to help the survivors of the Nepal earthquakes! They also brought in so many supplies for our Ministry 2 Military that four wagons were overflowing! Our VBS kids have such a giving spirit!

And you...our church family...your giving hearts helped to make this year's VBS possible! Thank you for the countless prayers (We felt them.), the many donations (We used them.), and for volunteering (God used you!) We appreciate you!

Ministry To Military
M2M sends care packages to those deployed overseas, and we need your help! To provide for them, we are looking for canned goods, nuts, tube socks and protein bars. We would also like to request letters or cards addressed to "Any Soldier". You can drop them off in the donation center in the main building, or in the box located by the exterior doors in the CLC. Contact Deidra Powell at [email protected] for more information.

Below is a recent letter we received from one of our soldiers:

Deidra

I want to thank you so much for all the packages you sent to our Soldiers.  The troopers are really appreciative and so am I.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your enduring support and generosity, it is so refreshing.

Yes we do follow sports here, at least most of us do. I am glad that Duke one, what a great run they had.

Tell your church that their prayers are so welcomed. We appreciate the hard work that was used to put together such great things in the care packages. My prayers go out to the congregation and I will surely let my pastor know of the great work you all are doing in supporting the troops abroad.

I will be leaving soon but I will pass on to my replacement of your support and if he still wants it to let you know. I am sure he will.

Thanks again.

WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE A CONGREGATION-WIDE EVENT

Truth Be Told: Art, Ice Cream and Missions co-sponsored by Youth Ministries and Women's Ministry.  On July 30 at 6:30 PM everyone is invited to turn blank canvas into wall art that reminds us of God's presence and promises. The painting is done with templates, so even the most self-conscious artists will create something they love. You choose the colors and the Bible verse. During painting breaks, the Women's Ministry Team will provide an Ice Cream Sundae Bar to enjoy! The cost is $30 per person. A portion of all payments goes to ministry community paint parties and financial contributions to various organizations. You can paint and eat and cool off this summer AND help others at the same time! To get a peek at the artwork, go to truthbetoldart.com.  We'll gather in the CLC multipurpose room.  For more information or to volunteer for this event, contact Director of Youth Ministries Amy Donahoo at [email protected] or the Women's Ministry Team at  [email protected]. You can register by clicking here.
