Premise Keepers
Winter is on the wane, spring is just around the corner and you don't want to miss helping us 'kick it off' at WFPC!! We're asking for ALL HANDS ON DECK on March 21, Saturday, at 8 am as the premise keepers usher in spring by attacking a rather lengthy list of needs inside and outside the church. Our internationally known PK culinary team is going to serve up one of their acclaimed breakfasts!! We have so much to do and are expecting so many folks of all ages who care about WFPC that we're starting to eat at 7:30. This is a change so please note the 7:30 breakfast start. There is much to do and many hands make the tasks easier and shorter. Bring your own yard tools, gloves, etc. if that's your interest or just bring "you". We've something for most everyone to do.  If you plan on coming to breakfast, let us know how many by contacting Jeff Simpson at [email protected]  and tell him the number. If you can't do breakfast , come at 8:00 am for our devotion and to get organized. We'll see you there!

 Ministry To Military

M2M sends care packages to those deployed overseas, and we need your help! To provide for them, we are looking for canned goods, nuts, tube socks, protein bars and hand warmers.  We would also like to request letters or cards addressed to "Any Soldier".  You can drop them off in the donation center in the main building, or in the box located by the exterior doors in the CLC. Contact Deidra Powell at [email protected] for more information.
Thanks,

One Great Hour of Sharing Offering

The One Great Hour of Sharing offering, one of the PS(USA) Special Offerings, will be collected on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2015. A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share God's love with our neighbors-in-need around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, providing food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed. The offering is divided between the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program, the Presbyterian Hunger Program and the Self Development of People Program.

The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program (PDA) enables congregations and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events. For the last several years, our adult mission trips have been to areas being served by the PDA. Click here to read more about the PDA.

The Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) works with Presbyterians and other partners to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes, responding with compassion and justice to poor and hungry people in local communities in the United States and internationally. Click  here to read more about the PHP.

The Self Development of People Program is a partnership of love, justice and empowerment reflecting the image of God who stands with all people. It is a ministry that affirms God's concern for humankind.  Dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, the program unites faith and action by participating in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people and working to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression and injustice. Click here to read more about the Self Development of People Program.

Please give generously. Thank you!

Greetings!

While looking for material for this edition of the Leaflets, I came across this quote from Jonathan Edwards, an 18th century preacher and missionary.

"When we go before God in prayer with a cold, dull heart, and in a lifeless and listless manner pray to him for eternal blessings . . . we should think of Christ's earnest prayers that he poured out to God, with tears and a bloody sweat. The consideration of it may well make us ashamed of our dull, lifeless prayers to God, [in which] we rather ask a denial than ask to be heard; for the language of such a manner of praying to God is that we do not look upon the benefit that we pray for as of any great importance, that we are indifferent whether God answers us or not. The example of Jacob in wrestling with God for the blessing should teach us earnestness in our prayers, but more especially the example of Jesus Christ, who wrestled with God in a bloody sweat. If we were sensible as Christ was of the great importance of those benefits that are of eternal consequence, our prayers to God for such benefits would be after another manner than now they are. Our souls also would with earnest labor and strife be engaged in this duty."

The quote brought to mind many questions:

- How do I go before God in prayer?

- How often is my heart cold, dull and lifeless
  while praying?

- Am I indifferent, just going through the
  motions?

- Have I ever wrestled with God in prayer to the
point I am in a "bloody sweat"?

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person availeth much.-James 5:16

Fervent prayer on the part of God's people produces not a little but MUCH! Our prayers make a tremendous impact on all things great and small. Although we may never completely know or understand to what extent, God tells us that fervent prayer...availeth MUCH!

Remember, if you pray likes it makes a difference, it will.

Meals Needed For Nurture Freezer Ministry
Our WFPC family certainly knows how to help those in need. One way we accomplish this is by providing meals to those who have experienced an illness or death, those going through various treatments or other difficult times. Our "nurture freezer" is currently low on frozen meals. If you would like to provide a meal or two, or if you feel you have a heart for this ministry and would like to help further, please contact, Darcy Thomas at [email protected].

Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch will meet on Thursday, March 19, at 11:45 a.m. at the Golden Corral in Wake Forest. Please join us for some good food and fellowship.

Spring Koinonia Groups

Registration for the Spring dinner groups, officially called our "Koinonia Suppers"is starting. Koinonia (Koi-no-ni-a) suppers are simply a time for fellowship with other Christians. What could be more fun? This is a great opportunity to get to know members of the congregation and to share good food and good conversation. A group is typically 8 people and meets in a host's home. There is only a one time commitment but most groups enjoy meeting again over the next several months. If you are interested and/or would like more information, please contact Lucy Deeprose at [email protected]. New groups will begin meeting in April.
