ATHLETIC FUNDING
District staff has been meeting with the middle and high school principals to discuss funding for the athletic programs in 2015-2016.  The district is committed to begin a three-year process to restore funding for the middle and high school athletic programs.  For the initial phase, the district will focus its efforts on addressing coaching stipends identified in the CVTA collective bargaining agreement.  To begin the process, the district will initially budget a total of $50,000 among the three schools to support the cost of the stipends in 2015-2016, and possibly increase the amount after the State's budget is adopted in June.  The principals and staff are committed to working with the school community to identify ways to reduce costs and increase revenue as the district restructures funding for the athletic program.  Six parents and/or students spoke on behalf of restoring full funding for the athletic program.  Read the full report here.
DEMOGRAPHIC STUDY UPDATE

Tom Williams, Demographer, presented the most recent demographic study completed for the district.  Mr. Williams projected that the district's enrollment will rise significantly in the next five years. The increase more than likely will occur mainly in the elementary and middle school levels in the short term, but within, five-years the district is projected to reach 10,000 students. See the presentation here.
