Blaine Torpey Appointed

Castro Valley High School Principal

At its meeting on April 23rd, the Board of Education appointed Blaine Torpey as the Principal of Castro Valley High School.  Mr. Torpey has been serving as the Interim Principal since September 2014.  Mr. Torpey was selected after a statewide search and an interview process that involved students, staff, and parents.

According to Superintendent Jim Negri, "Mr. Torpey is truly a student-centered administrator.  As principal he cares about the success and well-being of every student at Castro Valley High School.  He works extremely hard to ensure that every student is connected to his or her learning.  During the past year, I have witnessed Blaine's commitment to strong leadership and his professional growth as an administrator.  I know that he will be successful as the principal."

Board President John Barbieri noted, "Blaine has always been a strong student advocate.  We are always please when we can promote from within.  I know that Blaine will do a great job as principal."

Mr. Torpey has previously served as an Assistant Principal at Castro Valley High School, High School Summer School Principal, District Energy Manager and teacher at Redwood High School.
