Sale of the Bond and Final Savings to Taxpayers
Justin Rich with KNN Public Finance provided the board with an update the sale of bonds in February and the savings generated for taxpayers payers.  The district successfully sold $38.1 million of 2015 General Obligation Refunding Bonds to refinance bonds from Measure C (Election of 1998) and Measure B (Election of 2005) authorizations. The savings to the district were 16.63% totaling a little over $7 million which will save the taxpayers in the district more than $500 over the term of the bonds.  See the PowerPoint presentation here.

Student Success Team (SST)

Mary Boyle, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, reviewed the process and procedures for Student Success Team (SST).  In November 2014, a district-wide SST Task Force was convened to review the SST processes and forms. The team consisted of over 30 representatives from district and site administration; general education, special education; teachers; and certificated, and classified staff. The work focused on a single purpose: To create a systematic process for offering and documenting early and appropriate interventions resulting in identifying and implementing appropriate general education supports for individual student success.  See the PowerPoint presentation here.

After a Public Hearing without any public comment, the board approved new salary schedules for classified, management, supervisory and confidential employees consistent with the salary increase negotiated with the Castro Valley Teachers Association (CVTA), 5% retroactive to January 1, 2015.
