Superintendent Announces Retirement

Earlier today, January 26, I announced that I plan to retire as Superintendent of the Castro Valley Unified School District effective June 30, 2015.

I wish to thank the Board of Education for its faith and trust in me to lead the district. I will always be grateful for the opportunity serve my community and grow as an educator.

Working collaboratively during the past six years, we have continued to move the district forward through all of the ups and downs; and there have far more ups than downs. I have been blessed to work with truly dedicated staff, parents and community members. I have valued and learned from each and every experience. We have accomplished a great deal, but recognize that there is still work to be done to ensure the success of every student.

For 41 years, I have had incredible experiences as a teacher, site administrator, district office administrator and superintendent. Being a superintendent is a great and rewarding challenge. I will truly cherish my six years in Castro Valley USD and the many friends that I have made. Castro Valley is my home.

I only hope that I gave back as much as I received. It has been pleasure to work with and serve you.  I am fully committed to working with the board and staff to ensure a seamless transition to a new superintendent.

Thank you for your support over the years.

A copy of the press release is attached.

Sincerely,

Jim Negri
