The Board of Education will hold a Regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in the Board Room of the Castro Valley Unified School District Office ( 4400 Alma Avenue). Please note that this meeting was originally scheduled on January 15, 2015. Closed Session starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Staff Development Center (SDC) with Open Session in the Board Room at 7:00 p.m.
The Board of Education normally meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings may be moved due to the school calendar or other conflicts. The meetings in January have been scheduled on the 14th and 29th. Please check the calendar of board meetings for the most current information or contact the District Office.
Board meetings are open to the public and the public may comment on issues under consideration by the board at the meeting at the time the board discusses the agenda item. For items not on the agenda, the public may comment on issues under the jurisdiction of the board (i.e., Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda, or 9:30 p.m., whichever occurs first). Speakers are requested to submit a "Request to Speak" form prior to the agenda item.
Agendas for Regular Board Meetings are posted at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. Agendas for Special Board Meetings are posted at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. The agenda and the board packet are posted on the district website. In addition to this online board packet, board packets are available for review at the District Office and the Castro Valley Library.

Agenda for Board Meeting on January 14, 2015
The agenda includes the following items:
- A presentation by Vannoy Elementary School with recognition of an outstanding student and volunteer;
- The presentation of the Castro Valley Educational Foundation (CVEF) Mini-Grants to teachers;
- A report from the District Equity Task Force;
- A presentation and request from the Science Olympiad Program at Creekside Middle School;
- A report on the plan to evaluate the 2014-2015 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and develop the 2015-2016 LCAP;
- A preliminary review of the Governor's Proposed 2015-2016 Budget;
- A consideration to refinance the current district bonds;
- A Public Hearing and a Resolution to increase Developer Fees;
- A Public Hearing and Resolution to approve a credential waiver;
- Adoption of Board Policies/Board Bylaws regarding:
- Meeting Conduct (i.e., Public Comment);
- Student Wellness; and
- Release of Directory Information;
- Reports from
- Student Board Member Spencer Dong;
- CSEA President Arlene Cristobal;
- CVTA President Alicia Gholami;
- Superintendent Jim Negri; and
- Board members;
- The Consent Agenda includes the following:
- Approval of Purchase Orders;
- Approval of the Position Control and Personnel Reports;
- A resolution in support of African-American History Month;
- Acceptance of donations, the Quarterly Williams Act and Quarterly Investment Reports;
- Approval of a partnership with CSU-East Bay Math and Science Teaching Initiative Program;
- Approval of a Medi-Cal Claiming Agreement; and
- Apporval of a overnight, out-of-state field trip;
- The Closed Session Agenda includes the following:
- Potential Litigation;
- Real Property Negotiations;
- Personnel Report; and
- Conference with labor negotiators.
