Castro Valley Unified School District is in the process of adopting new elementary math materials to meet the rigorous Common Core State Standards. Administrators and teachers have been working together to evaluate new textbooks as well as online resources since last spring. Currently, three sets of mathematics materials are under consideration and are being piloted in selected Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms, and two sets of materials are under consideration and are being piloted in selected classrooms in grades one through five. Those materials are:
- McGraw Hill's My Math for TK/K
- Pearson/Scott Foresmann's EnVision for TK/K
- Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Math Expressions for Grades TK - 5
- Freeware - EngageNY for Grades 1 - 5
Sample materials are available for public review at the CVUSD District Offices in the Educational Services hallway, and will remain available through January 14, 2015. An adoption decision is expected in mid-January.
Questions can be directed to Audrey Fong, Elementary Curriculum Coordinator, or Mary Boyle, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services at the CVUSD District Office.
