BOARD MEETING AGENDA

The Board of Education will hold a Regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, in the Board Room of the Castro Valley Unified School District Office (4400 Alma Avenue).  Closed Session starts at 6:00 p.m. with Open Session at 7:00 p.m.  Please note that the meeting has been moved to Wednesday.

 

The Board of Education normally meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.  Meetings may be moved due to the school calendar or other conflicts. Please check the calendar of board meetings for the most current information or contact the District Office.

Board meetings are open to the public and the public may comment on issues under consideration by the board at the meeting at the time the board discusses the agenda item.  For items not on the agenda, the public may comment on issues under the jurisdiction of the board (i.e., Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda, or 9:30 p.m., whichever occurs first).  Speakers are requested to submit a "Request to Speak" form prior to the agenda item.

 

Agendas for Regular Board Meetings are posted at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting.  Agendas for Special Board Meetings are posted at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.  The agenda and the board packet are posted on the district website.  In addition to this online board packet, board packets are available for review at the District Office and the Castro Valley Library.

Agenda for October 22nd 
The agenda for the October 22nd board meeting includes the following:
  • A report from Castro Valley Elementary School;
  • Recognition of an outstanding student and volunteer from Castro Valley Elementary School;
  • A report from the Castro Valley Sanitary District (CV SAN);
  • A Public Hearing and a recommendation to re-appointment Personnel Commissioner Christopher Low;
  • A follow-up discussion to the Board Tour and Study Session on Facilities;
  • Adoption of revised Board Policies in the 0000 Series;
  • Reports from the Student Board Member and the CSEA and CVTA Presidents; and
  • Consent Agenda items including:
    • Approval of Purchase Orders, Personnel Report, New and Closed Positions, and Budget Adjustments;
    • Adoption of resolutions to solicit bides for auditing services and copier services;
    • Adoption of Courses of Study for middle school English Learner courses;
    • Appointment of representatives to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Athletic Leagues;
    • Approval of an agreement for natural gas;
    • Approval of minutes from September 25, 2014; and
    • Rejection of a claim against the district.
