THE STANDARD
March 2015 | Volume 18
| |
As usual, 2015 is off to a busy start as we have several clients certifying to TL 9000, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 during the year. Travel is hectic and Bob just returned from working on a TL 9000 project in Saudi Arabia. With the impending publication of ISO 9001:2015, there are many changes coming to the multiple quality standards that we implement. Specific to ICT and TL 9000, rapid advances in technology force the standard to adapt and improve. In many ways, change brings a sense of uneasiness, but it can also be liberating and a chance to "clean out the closets" so to speak. So that's what we're doing in 2015--cleaning and fine tuning our processes and systems.
We are challenging our staff and clients to make 2015 "The Year of Quality". Let's all take this opportunity for change to look deep into our quality systems and ask ourselves, how can we really drive continuous improvement? Is this the year to look at tackling sustainability objectives by adding ISO 14001 certification, since the new ISO 14001 will align with the revised ISO 9010:2015 standard? BIZPHYX has created some new resources for our clients to better prepare their organizations for the changes ahead. We just launched a new "Countdown To ISO 9001:2015" webpage, which is a clearing house of information and real-time updates from ISO and other thought leaders, leading up to the publication of the new standard by the end of the year. In this edition of THE STANDARD, there is a great on-demand webinar from Irv Briks on the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), which is now a new QuEST Forum initiative. Please read our update from the QuEST Forum Leadership Summit held in Dallas in late January. There's a link to the article on our blog, as well as many other articles on new standards and more.
This year is going to be action-packed, so encourage colleagues and friends to subscribe to THE STANDARD. By subscribing, they will stay on top of quality management news and trends!
Let's all make 2015 "The Year of Quality".

Countdown To ISO 9001:2015
New BIZPHYX Web Page, Update
The most important question to ask is are you ready? At this point that is somewhat difficult question to answer, however the revised ISO 9001 standard is now at the final stage, FDIS.
That being said, education and preparation are things you can do now, which is why we've developed a new resource. We just launched a new web page called Countdown To ISO 9001:2015. It's a landing page with a clearing house of "available to the public" news releases, supporting documents, presentations, commentaries and videos from ISO.org and other thought leaders like NQA and stakeholder organizations like ASQ (The American Society for Quality).
We will update this page throughout 2015 as new resources are posted. On this page, you will also find information on upcoming FREE webinars we're offering to help clients prepare for the new standard. On March 20th we're offering a FREE 1-hour webinar on both the new ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001 (information security management). Click on the image or our countdown page for course descriptions. Contact [email protected] for more info and to register. Did we say these are FREE?

Quality Trends, Tips an Tools
What Is Your Favorite Quality Tool? TAKE THE QUIZ!
Your favorite quality tool may say something about you and your process style. Are you a check sheet, a control chart, a scatter diagram or even a Pareto Chart or Fishbone diagram? In honor of World Quality Month in November 2014, ASQ and Quality Progress created an informal and humorous online quiz to highlight the expertise of individual quality professionals.
NEW Standards, Revisions and Updates
ISO 37101: "Sustainable Communities", ISO 27018
ISO 14001 | Sustainability | Recycling
ISO 14001 Moves To The Final Stage (FDIS)
What you need to know is that with the new ISO 14001 there is more emphasis made on leaders within organizations to promote environmental management. In addition, there will be a shift towards improving environmental performance, rather than improving the management system.
