"An Abiding HOPE - The Presence of God in Exodus and Deuteronomy."
"The books of Exodus and Deut. call us to remember that the central actor in human experience...is God."
A litany/response that was written to use with each lesson reinforces one of the central themes of the study, "Is the Lord among us or not? - as the Hebrews in the wilderness asked. The response shared is:
"Yes; God was and is and will be with us forever...
Hallelujah and Amen."
There was a similar theme about HOPE a few years ago at our meeting, so we now are BUILDING upon that HOPE that we have in our ever-present God...
BUILDING it into our own ever-growing HOPE, personally, faithfully, etc. and BUILDING it in new, positive, creative ways to serve God and one another.

With the schedule this year, we are using SOME of our familiar plans, but we are also trying to be intentional in trying some new things and hearing the ideas expressed so that we could add some new elements.
The "building of relationships" through the outdoor "trust" activities,
conversations during the "tea time" about KO Women/UCC Women, etc., and
an extra effort to include free time for suggested and/or "free" meditative
time while at WMC were part of the scheduling process.
We are also trying to BUILD HOPE by growing our KO Women
participants to continue as a body of service within the Church and our conference.

The main focus of our ministry this past week was our Community Vacation Bible School.
Our central Bible story was Noah's Ark and each night we centered our activities around a theme: Listen to God; God is our Guide; Working 2X2; Riding the Waves; and Rainbow Promises
The children chose buying trees as a mission project. Church World Service can provide 200 seedlings for $35.

The total offering given was $175.00 which translated into 1,000 trees.
Well done, you faithful 20 children!

We are a small church and decided to do something different with VBS. We held a one day Children's Camp on June 1, 2013. Two days of planning and work went into setting it up for the younger children.
From 10 to 2 in the afternoon, the children learned a lot. .. The theme was "Trust God No Matter What". It was a total success!
Our fellowship hall was transformed into a kid's wonderland with markings on the floor for "acting out" while watching Christian videos and learning new songs. The round tables were decorated with a rainbow of colors and favors and worksheets were provided.
A story teller kept the attention of all with six stories and actions to go with the story. A light breakfast was served and a family brought in pizza for everyone for lunch.
Grace also offers a "one room classroom" for kids during our worship service. Worship starts at 10:00am and the kids join in for the opening prayers and liturgy, particpate in the passing of the peace of Christ, have Children's Time and then are dismissed for about 45 minutes of class time. We have about 15 kids most every Sunday.
A Day Camp for older kids is scheduled for 29 June, 2013. Deb Somers is our inspiration and teacher behind the Day Camp and One Room Classroom. She is also our church treasurer. Thank God for Deb and her helpers! God has blessed Grace!

| Dates for Churches to be Featured in the KO e-NEWS |
| |
In the three months that I have been with you, I have heard that we need to find ways to increase communication and our sense of being in ministry together. I can extend the invitation, but it will require all of us to actually increase our sharing and communication. This is one simple step we can take in that direction. So,please take a few minutes to find the date assigned to you and mark your calendars to remind you to participate at the assigned time.
Share the good news and ministry of your church with sister congregations! Churches have been assigned a date; so send in a paragraph or two about your congregation's ministry. You may feature a special event, a particular mission, anything that your church is doing well and you want to share. Your stories will encourage and inspire others; so share the good news!
The first date below is the date your church has been assigned and will be featured; the 2nd date the information needs to be submitted; send it early if you like! Send your information to kofocus@yahoo.com

Rev. Lori Walke. Associate Minister of Christian Education at Mayflower Congregational UCC, Oklahoma City, OK has been accepted in the 17 member class of 2024 of The Next Generation Leadership Initiative.

The Next Generation Leadership Initiative, created by the Pension Boards of the UCC is a 20-year focus on energizing and sustaining younger, emerging United Church of Christ local church pastors, believing that healthy, catalytic pastors lead to healthy, vibrant congregations. Its mission is to honor and challenge clergy between the ages of 25-35, who have accepted the high calling to parish ministry, who view parish ministry as a career path and are willing to make a long-term commitment to service in congregational settings of the United Church of Christ, and who demonstrate significant potential. Participants are provided with advanced skills training to hone their ability to serve as transformational leaders and a significant financial incentive in return for a 10-year commitment to local church ministry in the United Church of Christ.
