FIFTH ANNUAL SUMMER DRIVE-IN MOVIE NIGHT
JUNE 17, 8:30 PM - 10:30 PM

Drive your most comfortable car with your favorite people to VRBC on Wednesday evening, June 17, and join us for our very popular Summer Drive-In Movie Night!

The south lawn of the church will be transformed into an old-fashioned drive-in movie theater with a big screen for viewing Rob Reiner's film, The Princess Bride (edited version). Sound signal will be broadcast through your car radio and also played on outdoor speakers if you prefer to bring some lawn chairs or a blanket (and bug spray!) and hang out on the lawn with family and friends. The movie begins at 9:00 pm, but arrive early to get a good viewing spot!

There is no charge to attend this church-wide event. Delicious movie popcorn will be provided, and sno-cones will be available for purchase.   Come enjoy the fun and fellowship, and invite a friend to join you!

For more information, contact Rich Roush at [email protected].

FLOOD RELIEF OPPORTUNITY

Due to the historic rainfall in recent weeks, many DFW residents have been impacted by flooding, including many in Coppell.  Over two hundred apartments in the city have been evacuated due to high water or a lack of electricity. These residents are facing and will continue to face a challenging road as they try to recover from this flood.

This is a great opportunity for our church to show the love of Christ in tangible ways to those in need.  As a church, we are contributing financially from our benevolence fund to the relief efforts that are being coordinated by the City of Coppell and the Coppell Fire Chaplain.  In addition, there are opportunities for you to contribute personally:

CLOTHING AND NON-PERISHABLE FOOD
These items are being collected at Riverside Church of Christ, 150 E. Belt Line Road, Coppell, through June 12.  They are especially in need of summer clothes for children and business casual clothing for adults.

CASH, CHECKS, AND GIFT CARDS
Monetary contributions and gift cards to Walmart/Target are most helpful at this time as residents replace the essentials. You can drop these items off at any City of Coppell facility, including the fire stations, the CORE (formerly called the Aquatic and Recreation Center), Town Center, the Library, and the Senior Center.

For more detailed information, click here to read the City of Coppell news release.

NORTH TEXAS ACCESS-LIFE EXPO

JUNE 13

*LOCATION CHANGE DUE TO FLOODING

Due to flooding, the North Texas Expo scheduled for Saturday, June 13, has been relocated to Haven's Horses4200 Keller-Haslet Road, Keller, Texas 76244.  The Expo will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (with volunteer check-in at 8:30 am). Volunteers are still needed to help execute the event featuring fishing, archery, crafts, games, food, and other fun activities.

Only one in ten people affected by disability attend church, so Access-Life has designed a free, four-hour community outreach Expo event to provide a time of Christ-centered encouragement, support, and fun for individuals and families living with disabilities.

JOBS FOR LIFE

CLASSES BEGIN THIS FALL - MENTORS NEEDED!

JOBS for LIFE (JfL) believes the Church is uniquely equipped to address the devastating effects of unemployment and poverty by helping men and women experience the dignity of work through honest relationships, mentoring, Biblically-based training, and an ongoing community of support.

The eight-week Jfprogram will meet on Wednesday and Sunday evenings beginning September 20 at VRBC. Using the JfL curriculum, class discussions build skills essential for success in any work place, while individual mentors provide coaching and support.

We invite you to share in our mission to restore dignity, to offer help and support, and to empower and equip people to provide for themselves and their families by becoming a mentor.  Also, if you or someone you know might be a potential student candidate for the class, we would love to talk to you.

For more details, contact Landa Parker or Cherie Walker at [email protected].

CORNERSTONE SERVING OPPORTUNITIES

We have several opportunities each month to serve alongside Cornerstone Baptist Church, our sister church in South Dallas:

MISSIONARY SPOTLIGHT: TODD SZALKOWSKI

Through Empower Sudan, Todd is working to bring the Gospel to 20 million unreached and unengaged people in Sudan and South Sudan.  Todd's role in the organization is to provide leadership in disciple-making, internally and externally.  Specifically, Todd is tasked with internally training, planning, and implementing the annual Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit in South Sudan.

Todd also focuses his ministry on the border area between the United States and Mexico. He is aggressively training leaders to start house churches in border towns that have been ravaged by the Mexican drug cartels. Todd travels several times each month to conduct half-day training sessions in cities from Matamoros to Tijuana.

Todd requests abundant prayer to serve faithfully in an areas experiencing such violence, for a revival among Christ followers in Northern Mexico to open the Word and live obediently, for the people of Sudan and South Sudan to hear and embrace salvation through Jesus Christ, and for financial provision.

Click here to view a short video to learn more about Todd and his ministry.  At VRBC, Todd is partnered with the Casey ABF.
