Four-Legged-Therapist Spotlight
|
Gypsy is a 10-year-old Belgian mare, and the only 100% draft horse in our herd. A true gentle giant, Gypsy loves learning new skills and always looks forward to bonding with her riders. Big thanks to Julie Gauntt for sponsoring this kind and intelligent mare!

Stinky Spoke |
The Stinky Spoke Poker Ride is an annual bicycling event held on the worst weather day of the year and it benefits Little Bit! Whether you want to volunteer at the event or want to brave the 18-mile course, Stinky Spoke always guarantees fun. Click here to learn more about the ride and register, or contact Volunteer Services Lead Jeffrey for volunteer information.

Give a Little Bit |
Thank you for your help in making this year's Give a Little Bit Campaign a big success: together we raised over $15,000 to support our riders and patients with disabilities! Congratulations to Jennifer O. who raised the most money this year, and Mark D. for raising the second most and winning a brand new iPad mini, and kudos to four-legged-therapist Sherman for winning a day of pampering!

Volunteer Survey |
Our 2013 Volunteer Survey is now open! If you volunteered with Little Bit in 2013, either at an event, in the arena, or in our offices, we'd love to hear about your experience. You can share your story by clicking here. Special reward for completing our survey: 10% off Little Bit merchandise!

Winter Weather |
Winter weather will be here before you know it, so here is a reminder of Little Bit's weather cancellation policy. In general, Little Bit follows the Lake Washington School District: if Lake Washington is closed, we will be closed. If Lake Washington has a late start, we will also have a late start. Even if Lake Washington is open, however, there still may be conditions that make riding unsafe. In that case, Little Bit staff will decide whether to cancel classes or have unmounted classes. You can keep up-to-date of any weather-related changes or cancellations by following the Lake Washington School District or by calling the Little Bit office (425-882-1554) for a recorded message. If there is no message on the Little Bit phone line regarding cancellation by 7:00 a.m, all classes and sessions are as scheduled.

Herd Transitions
|
We are sad to announce that effective in December after our Fall Session, Katanga will be retired from the Little Bit program.
Katanga has served riders for the past 3 years in our adaptive program. She has been a trusted mount and partner to our independent walk, trot, and canter riders as well helping to teach others to advance their riding skills. She is a shining star in our Margo O'Callaghan Memorial Dressage Show year after year and is always a willing and happy participant in the costume class. She will be greatly missed. We thank her owner Wendy Fryke for allowing Little Bit to work with this amazing mare.
Katanga's owner is very excited to have all her horses at home again, and has generously allowed Katanga's riders to finish out the session with her, but to make this possible we agreed to pay for Katanga to be shipped back home to Colorado. We have raised $700 for this so far, but we need to raise a total of $1,400. Donations are welcome; visit our website to make a gift (please specify "For Katanga".) If you have any questions about Katanga's retirement, please email our Equine Services Director Dana.
