Four-Legged-Therapist Spotlight

Kota is a 26-year-old Appaloosa - the oldest horse in our herd! Her color is described as "snowflake", but some people have said it looks like she is dusted with powdered sugar - which makes her extra sweet! Huge thanks to the Not Yet Foundation for sponsoring this smart and patient mare!
Happy Birthday, Kathy!

Our Executive Director Kathy Alm recently turned 50, and she is celebrating her birthday in a big way - by collecting donations for Give a Little Bit! She made a Razoo Giving page to ask her community to give $50 to Little Bit in honor of her birthday. Kathy says:

"I started at Little Bit over 14 years ago, when I was in my 30's - a time when I thought I knew a lot more than I actually did. The one thing I did know then, and still know today, was that I had found a magical place to work. A place where people of all ages and all abilities come together in partnership with horses and create cherished moments."

We think this is an awesome way to celebrate, and it just goes to show you never know who in your community is waiting to give until you ask - Kathy's page has already raised over $300!

You can join in the birthday celebration by donating to Kathy's page and joining Little Bit in our mission of changing lives, one stride at a time!

Staff Transitions

Please join us as we wish a bittersweet farewell to our Adaptive Services Director Raeshell Sorensen. She will be moving back to her home in Utah to give her new baby, Silas, all the benefits of an extended family.

In Rae's own words: "Little Bit has become my home and family so it saddens me greatly to say that due to personal circumstance I must leave the Seattle area. The people who I have had the pleasure to meet and work with side by side have influenced my life forever. I will never forget all the amazing volunteers, the kind parents, the riders who have taught me so much and of course the amazing staff that I have had the pleasure to work with. I am grateful to have been part of this wonderful organization. Thank you to everyone I have had the pleasure to know, I hope to keep in touch and see you all again soon."

Executive Director Kathy Alm adds, "Rae brought immense passion and commitment to Little Bit. She will be greatly missed."

Our community is invited to attend a farewell party for Rae Thursday at 1:30 pm in the Training Center. Feel free to bring a dish to share, email Instructor Kelly with any questions.

Give a Little Bit surprises
We're half-way through our Give a Little Bit campaign and we've had some amazing success - we even raised $1,000 in one week and every dollar was matched by Luann & Eric Berman! We've got some more surprises in store for the rest of the campaign, so keep an eye on your email and our Facebook page!
Our Jail Break was a huge success - we raised $1,000 just a few hours, and James and Judy Rams are matching it dollar-for-dollar!
Trick or Treating
Join us for indoor accessible trick or treating on Halloween! Little Bit will be open to trick or treaters during business hours on October 31st. This is the perfect way to get a head start on your candy collection and a great time to turn in your final Give a Little Bit donations!
Creating Community Breakfast

Mark your calendars - our inaugural Creating Community Breakfast, presented by GLY Construction, will be October 29 at the Bellevue Club. This is a unique opportunity to network and enjoy an interesting program while supporting Little Bit. Mike Flood, Vice President of Community Relations for the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks will give a keynote address focusing on how a community is essential to the success of a team.  If you're interested in sponsoring or attending this event or being a table captain, please email Special Events Associate Erin.
