Oakland A's Jed Lowrie scores to completes a two-error inside-the-park home run in the third inning of Saturday's game. Lowrie's offense would prove to be enough as the A's powered past the San Francisco Giants with three home runs and earned a 4-1 victory. The game completed spring training for both teams. Andy Dolich - Steph Court - 4-4-16
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is expanding the boundaries of human imagination when it comes to shooting range, and the hoops world is playing catch-up. Andy Dolich, of Dolich/Andrews Creative, is frantically trying to keep up with the Curry expansion. Dolich, long-time Bay Area sports exec and economic philosopher, has made a simple tweak to bring the standard NBA court markings up to Steph specs. Only problem: If the Dolich Court is adopted by the NBA, it might be a few years before anyone but Curry makes a three-pointer. Most fans in the Bay Area can live with that. RAAM - 4-4-16
A surprising number of serious cyclists have rudimentary mechanic skills or interest
in the workings of their bicycles. The late, great Jure Robic (5-time Race Across America winner) was not one of those. (Robic died in 2010 from a head-on collision with a car while descending a narrow mountain road in Slovenia.) As a former
bicycle shop mechanic, Robic did most of the work on his bikes personally, even during RAAM. In these photos taken in Effingham, Illinois during RAAM 2008, Robic attends
to an off-center brake while a crew member looks on.

Andy Dolich - 4-4-16
O.co Coliseum is presently shared by the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders, yet both teams prefer their own stadium and in the past have made attempts to move away.

Andy Dolich -- 2015

There Used to Be a
Ball Park

By Andy Dolich

Fans keep holding on to the frayed rope that is the ongoing tug of war between the A's, Raiders, league powerbrokers and city leaders waiting to see who is going to actually do something real when it comes to building a new stadium in Oakland.

This Bermuda Triangle of bloviation drove me to update the lyrics of Frank Sinatra's classic song. There Used to Be a Ball Park, written in 1973 to describe the gut-punching removal of the Dodgers from Brooklyn's Ebbets Field to LaLa land and the New York Giants deserting the Polo Grounds for that city across the bay from Oakland.

Hopefully this updated version never becomes a reality.

"And there used to be an Oakland Coliseum where the field was warm and green.
And the teams played their big games with a joy we'd never seen.
And the air was always fragrant from the bratwurst and the beer.
Yes, there used to be a year-round sports home right here.

And there used to be world champs, Hall-of-Famers and sellout crowds.
With fireworks exploding all across the Oakland hills framed in clouds.
And the fans watched in wonder, how they'd laugh and how they'd cheer!
Yes, there used to be a Coliseum - with a Black Hole - right here.

Now the offspring of Raider Nation and Athletics try to find it
Because their parents' teams were constantly threatening to split.
Their magic moments could end up playing out on another city's street,
With millions of hometown fans only left with a humongous Coliseum swap meet.

Oaktown sports fans used to get so rowdy.
The welcomes to opposing teams was never Howdy.
The summer, fall and winter were their times to cheer.
Now many who wear their colors might someday be shedding a tear.

Yes, there used to be an Oakland Alameda County Coliseum right here."

The lyrics to the original were written by Joe Raposo. Many of Sinatra's classic songs and albums were arranged by the legendary Gordon Jenkins, father of our own sportswriting legend Bruce Jenkins.

Andy Dolich has worked as an executive in all four major sports leagues, including the Oakland A's, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers. He is the managing director and head of U.S. sports practice for Odgers Berndstson, the UK's leading executive search firm, and director of career development for the University of San Francisco's online master's program in the business of collegiate athletics.

The Oakland Athletics invited non-roster shortstop Franklin Barreto to spring training.

High Hopes Carry the Stockton Ports
Taylor McCarthy | Director of Marketing

The Stockton Ports, Class A Advanced Affiliate of the Oakland A's, are back for a 67th season of California League Baseball beginning April 7. Following an impressive 2015 season, which saw the Ports finish with a 74-66 record and capture a second-half California League North Division championship, the Ports look to make the playoffs for a third straight season.

Highlights from the 2015 season included a breakout performance from the Athletics' top prospect Franklin Barreto, who was acquired in the offseason from a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays for AL MVP Josh Donaldson.  After a slow start, the Ports rode Barreto's hot bat to the playoffs as the Venezuelan-born prospect finished with a .302 AVG, including 13 home runs and 47 RBI.

Other notable performances included the emergence of the Athletics' No. six prospect, Matt Chapman, who was the first-round draft pick in 2014. In only 80 games played for the Ports, Chapman hit 23 home runs with 57 RBI, while showcasing an impressive glove at third base.

The Ports pitching is composed of lone California League All-Star and the Athletics No. 15 ranked prospect Dylan Covey, as well as No. 14 overall prospect Daniel Mengden, who was acquired mid-season as part of the trade of Scott Kazmir to the Houston Astros.

Rick Magnante will be back for a second straight season managing the Ports, as he looks to capitalize from a successful season, which included a nine-game win streak in June and a clinching of home field advantage during the playoffs.

Fans all over California's Central Valley and Bay Area can expect another stellar season of top promotions at Banner Island Ballpark's family-friendly environment. Promotions will include 13 Fireworks shows (every Saturday home game), ten Free Shirt Friday's (first 1,000 fans in attendance), five Thursday Cap Giveaways, and more.

For a complete list of special promotions, more information, to purchase tickets and the season schedule, visit www.StocktonPorts.com
