Happy New Year!  All of us here at InnerMovement are excited to commit to our health and wellness goals for 2015. Every January we participate and promote our Easy 3 Step Detox Program.  This program is our favorite way for our patients and staff to start the new year by gently removing toxins and optimizing our body systems.

Why a Detox? Every day we are bombarded with environmental toxins and the news is full of stories such as "U.S. Foods Banned In Other Countries" or how "Trans Fat May Hurt Your Memory" and more.  With all of the information available one thing is certain, your body will function better when your system is clean and I have not found a detox program that patients love more or with as many clinical benefits as our Easy 3 Step Bio-Detox Program.

The painful symptoms of biotoxicity and neurotoxicity are similar to the symptoms of a variety of other medical conditions, such as fibromyalgia, migraines or chronic headaches, depression, chronic fatigue, recurrent or chronic sinusitis, or other conditions that are unresponsive to conventional therapy. The symptoms of biotoxicity can also mimic those of some autoimmune diseases.

And if you're interested in losing weight in the New Year, cleansing the Liver with a thorough detox is key as the liver controls sugar metabolism, fat break down and is integral in boosting metabolism.  A clogged up, fatty liver will make weight loss an uphill battle.

To kick-off the Detox Program and aid my patients throughout the process, I will be hosting meetings to lend program support, provide motivation, offer a Q&A session, and create a wellness community.

 

SCHEDULE

(note:  all meetings held at the InnerMovement Offices):

  • Saturday, January 10th at 8am: Sign up & order your Detox Kit, outline your shopping guide & have a group Q&A with Dr Heidi to begin the Detox
  • Saturday, January 17th at 8am: Meetup for Ongoing Detox Support, pick up Detox Herbs needed for 2nd & 3rd week, consult with Dr Heidi about any health concerns in response to the Detox
  • Monday, February 2nd at 6pm: Celebrate Completion of the Cleanse with Fresh Veggie Cocktails & Healthy Treats to help ease you into Step 3 - Healthy Eating Plan for Ongoing Success

Enjoy A Detox Tea
  
Lemon & Ginger Tea
Enhance your detox program by drinking Lemon & Ginger Tea
(makes 1 serving)
  • 1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Put the ginger in a tea pot or medium bowl. Pour 1 cup boiling water over it and let it steep for 3 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, put the lemon juice in a large mug. Strain the ginger tea into the mug.
No time to grate? Slice ginger into thin rounds and add to mug.  Add hot water to steep, add lemon slice and enjoy!
Recipe Of The Month
  
Rainbow Veggie Detox Salad
(serves 4)
 
For the Vinaigrette:
  • Juice of 3 lemons (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. agave nectar (or sub. local honey)
  • sea salt and black pepper, to taste

For the salad:

  • 2 bunches kale (about 6-8 cups), de-stemmed and finely chopped
  • 1/2 red or orange bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/3 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup roasted almonds
  • 4 Tbsp. hemp seeds
  • 1/2 avocado, diced
Directions:
  1. Prepare dressing: place lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, agave, sea salt and pepper in bowl; whisk together until combined and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, toss kale, bell peppers, carrots, and cucumbers together. Add dressing, cilantro, and parsley. Use hands to massage kale with dressing; this is important so that the kale absorbs the dressing. Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour to let flavors soak in.
  3. Before serving, toss salad again. Top with almonds, hemp seeds and avocado. Enjoy!
TIP:  For a heartier meal & protein boost, mix in 2 cups of Organic Quinoa
