The latest laminator in the Jupiter range is the Jupiter 35L, a 35m/minute B2 laminator capable of delivering over 4,100 B2 sheets (or 4,700 SRA2 sheets) per hour.

 

The original Jupiter model was launched late in 2006 with the first installations taking place in January 2007 and at that time it was capable of running at up to 20m/minute, which equates to around 1,700 B2 sheets per hour.

 

Over the intervening years, the portrait fed Jupiter has undergone a number of changes, taking it to 35m/minute and adding a double-sided Jupiter DS model to the range.

 

Today, the PLC controlled, landscape Jupiter 35L will run a B2 sheet either landscape or portrait and boasts a cantilevered air shaft mandrel for faster film roll changes, pallet feeding and a delivery jogger, all of which are supplied as standard. An optional delivery stacker is also available in place of the standard Jogger for pallet to pallet operation of longer runs.

 

With less printed material being produced at B1and far more being produced  digitally at SRA3, the Jupiter 35L is a good choice for both printers and finishers alike; it maintains its ease of handling digitally printed material yet feeding a B2 sheet landscape (as printed) it can avoid the issues sometimes associated with laminating a press-sealed sheet.

 

Marcin Podolak of the printing house Hera in Poland bought one of the first of the new landscape Jupiter 35's. Marcin says "Hera have always attached importance to the quality of its services and when we decided to buy a laminator the possibility of laminating B2 sheets in the direction of print, make-ready time and robustness were all important to us and the Jupiter landscape proved to be better than its competition. Since purchasing the machine it has fully met our expectations, it is reliable, easy to maintain and operator friendly."

After a pretty gruelling 24 hour race held near the rocky shores of Anglesey, the battle for the win in the UK class of the 24 hour race came down to just two cars separated by just 1 lap!

 

Team Sealion took the win, completing 844 laps. Behind them in second place was the Porky Boys team with 843 laps. Team Stinky completed the final podium spot with 835 laps.

 

The weather was extremely good during the event, with blue skies and sunshine for most of the daylight hours, a spectacular sunset, and a very dark night time. 

 

The event was held in conjunction with the 2CVGB national meeting, which was very well organised and the two events were a great success together. The party on the Sunday night was well attended and lively, considering the general lack of sleep!
