This month saw the first three installations of the new Europa PB in the UK. Launched at IPEX, the uniquely configured double-sided Europa PB joins the award winning single-sided Europa and the Europa EL, single-sided + embossing station.

The first installation took place at Outstanding Map Distributors in Cornwall and replaced an aging Autobond. Sean Quigly, MD of Outstanding told Printweek recently "The new D&K is pretty fantastic, it's got two chrome rollers so both sides can be laminated to the same quality".

The second installation took place at DTP in Edinburgh where they specialise in offering quick turnaround brochures for the property market. Alun Joseph, MD of DTP said

"Having used D&K laminators for over 10 years, I was excited to see the Europa PB at IPEX.  As most of our laminated work is double sided, it was clearly a machine we could not overlook and I estimate we will save approximately 500 man-hours per year with this installation.  

The Europa PB is as we have come to expect from D&K kit and the quality of the double sided finish is much better than we have seen previously on other kit. I would very much recommend the D&K range for build quality, service and support, but the Europa PB in particular would be an ideal addition to any post press environment where there is a volume of double sided lamination work."

Both Outstanding and DTP took the option of extending both feed and delivery to cope with 1m + sheet length for their specific applications.

The third installation this month was carried out by D&K distributor Encore Machinery Ltd at IPS Ultraprint Ltd on Guernsey. It's a tough job but someone had to do it and Managing Director, Mike Biggs, carried out the installation personally. The first job run on the Europa PB was the laminating of postcards and took 15 minutes, a job that IPS commented would have taken around 3 hours on their two Matrix machines running at 2m/minute. 

Further installations are already planned both in the UK and further afield.
