Europa EL (Embossing Line) German debut

AVD Deutschland, D&K distributor in Germany, will be showcasing the new Europa EL at this year's FachPack exhibition which takes place in Nuremberg, 24 - 26 September 2013
D&K has been manufacturing Laminators since 1981 and one of our most popular models, the Europa, was launched at IPEX in 2010. The Europa won the coveted Gold Medal award at Poligrafia this year and the Europa EL System is based on this best-selling model. The EL shares many of standard Europa's features such as pneumatically controlled rollers, energy-saving heating system and ease of usebut adds an in-line embossing station to give an extra dimension to both standard and digital laminating films.  Capable of laminating up to B2 sheet size the embossing station of the Europa EL System is independent of the standard laminating section. So sheets may be laminated flat or embossed at the flick of a switch and all without stopping the laminator or necessitating a further make ready or film change. Designed for both traditional and digital printing houses,the first installation has already taken place at a company specialising in the production of luxury notebooks. More installations are set to take place shortly and further demonstrations will be taking place in Germany and Belgium over the coming months. |
UK film price increase - as of 1st October

It has been over 2 years since we had to impose a general UK price increase on Polyester films and over 4 years since one has been necessary on our SuperStick
OPP range.
However due to sustained worsening in the rate of exchange between Sterling and the US Dollar and the number of cost increases in raw materials we now have to increase our prices.
All UK customers will have received notification, in writing, of the increase which comes into effect on 1st October 2013.

IP films for HP Indigo print
|  IP derivative of our SuperStick resin, created for adhesion issues to HP Indigo print and originally coated onto polyester film to create a 250 micron product for the card market, is now available on a light polyester base film for the label and general markets. We are also looking at offering an OPP version. |

Open house at Printemat, Belgium
| Belgian Distributor, Printemat, will be holding an Open Day on 2nd & 3rd October.
Visitors will be able to see the new Europa EL put through its paces. Also on display will be the Atlas Wide Format Laminator.
Printemat will also be showing customers Pegasus B2 Semi Automated Laminators which have been taken back in part-exchange from customers who have upgraded to Europa or Jupiter. |
Print 2013, Chicago
|  Richard Bolton and Robin French visited D & K Group in Illinois this month for discussions at Head Office and to attend Print 2013 held at The McCormick Centre, Chicago from 8 -12th. It was Richard's first visit to D & K, Inc., since 1997, so he had a lot to catch up on. The exhibition, like most in Europe, was not as well attended as in previous years, and, like so many print shows currently, featured no litho press manufacturers. However, D & K had some innovations that aroused a lot of interest. We carried out timed demonstrations on the Xerox stand of a 2760 modified with an extra nip station to facilitate lamination of output direct from the Igen printers. On our own stand, we had the exciting new PVC card laminator, a 3 station unit to laminate PVC film each side of PVC core material. The 3215 diagonal flying knife was also demonstrated, fitted to a 3210 laminator. |
