UK film price increase - as of 1st October
filmrolls

It has been over 2 years since we had to impose a general UK price increase on Polyester films and over 4 years since one has been necessary on our SuperStick

OPP range.

However due to sustained worsening in the rate of exchange between Sterling and the US Dollar and the number of cost increases in  raw materials we now have to increase our prices.

All UK customers will have received notification, in writing, of the increase which comes into effect on 1st October 2013.

We should like to take this opportunity to thank you for your valued business and assure you that we will continue to offer you the best package of price and service that we are able to provide.

Ultra Matt range to be increased.

Further investment by our parent company in the USA has increased our surface coating capability several fold and in consequence we will be rolling out the Ultra Matt finish product, which has proved particularly popular for high end encapsulation and in the card market, in a range of other base films and gauges in the coming months.

Optistick removable adhesives
fathead

Following the success of our Optistik product (thermal adhesive on one side and pressure sensitive permanent adhesive on the other) we are adding a version with removable adhesive instead of permanent.

The removable adhesive has also been added to our Optically clear mounting film to create an Optically Clear Permanent/Removable product in addition to the Permanent/Permanent version.

This will be particularly useful for displays that change frequently and are where it is desirable to recover the print on the substrate for re-use.

IP films for HP Indigo print

IP derivative of our SuperStick resin, created for adhesion issues to HP Indigo print and originally coated onto polyester film to create a 250 micron product for the card market, is now available on a light polyester base film for the label and general markets.

We are also looking at offering an OPP version.

Discontinued products

Three products have been discontinued from our range and will no longer be available once existing stocks have been exhausted; these are

  1. ADB Black
  2. ADB White 250 micron
  3. H/A Texturefilm
OPP alternative
film rolls

Significant increases in the manufacturing costs of our standard resin OPP are such that it has lead us to consider alternatives to continue servicing our customers with a quality OPP laminating film product.

In this respect we are now able to offer a lower priced "EC" range alongside our regular SOP25, SOP30 and MSOP30 OPP films. We will be offering ECG Gloss and ECM Matt in widths up to 1010mm, initially in the UK only.

"The EC range is not a D&K manufactured product but field trials have shown it to be a very acceptable alternative" says John Hancock, Sales Manager for UK & Ireland.
