If we sound like a broken record, it's because regional trail planning is important and exciting stuff! City and County of Boulder and many other agencies want to link our communities to our trails. The process is called the Regional Mountain Trails Master Plan Initiative, and there are a bunch of meetings going on to get community feedback.
If you have 2 minutes, go to the project website and learn what is up. The prospects are pretty sweet.
If you have 10 minutes, stay on the project website and write a quick comment: What should the planners keep in mind? What do you know that they don't (about these communities, not life)? What advice can you provide so that the process is a success?
If you have 20 minutes, read through BMA's ask list and use that to write more details comments on the process (at the link above), or email the BMA advocacy team with your input.
If you have 90 minutes, attend one of the remaining meetings where the planning team simply listens to community feedback. If you want to comment, use our asks as a guide. But even if you don't say anything at the meeting, your presence means the world to us.
BMA has been working with planners to help them think through some of the initial mountain bike issues, but you can support this effort too. It's incredibly important to have mountain bikers present at these meetings so that planners hear mountain bikers speak up for access and ask for things with a common voice. This week there are evening meetings in Louisville (4/29), Jamestown (4/30), Longmont (5/1) and Gold Hill (5/2). Details and other meeting dates here.
