On Thursday, April 18, the first public meeting for the Regional Mountain Trails Master Planning was held in Boulder. The meeting was an opportunity for the 50 or so participants to express their wishes about the process to design a regional trail network and most of the people there really loved the idea. The Longmont Times-Call wrote a good article about the meeting.
There were representatives of City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, US Forest Service, Boulder County Transportation and Jefferson County Open Space who wanted to listen in and participate.

These meetings are a pretty easy way to speak your mind and also hear what other people have to say -- at this point, the agencies involved are just looking for community feedback, and will come back in a few months with a proposed path forward. We encourage Boulder County residents to attend the meetings in their community, although it is fine to attend a different meeting is your schedule doesn't accommodate their schedule.
If no one speaks up for mountain biking, mountain bikers won't be heard, so BMA put together a comprehensive "ask list" to help mountain bike supporters provide constructive feedback at the meetings so that we speak with a common voice. If you do attend one of these meetings, thanks a million, and we'd love to hear how it goes -- send us an email!
