Saint Paul writes..."Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of everyone of you for one another is increasing." (2nd Thessalonians 1: 2-3)
Brothers and Sisters...
Frequently we get personal notes from members and friends of our congregation. These epistles often express gratitude for acts of kindness that have been extended by staff and parishioners from Lord of Life. In just the last few days we received...
+ a note (and a generous contribution) from the daughter of one of our more senior members whose parent has received pastoral visits and caring cards while being confined to a local continuing care community.
+ a heart felt "thank you" from a member living in Atco who is so appreciative of our welcome to her and family at a time when they needed to know that God "still loved and cared for them!" She added that the experience she and her husband had on several of our mission trips strengthened their faith and gave them an opportunity to share their God-given talents and abilities with people in need. And now their faith journey has led them to join a loving Methodist congregation in Voorhees where they can be more fully involved. Her message was a clear reminder that the church is a community of faith greater than any one congregation or denomination.
+ a beautiful message from a young mom who was able to join us with her son, husband and parents at one of our early Christmas Eve services. Here's a portion of what Christine shared...
"I would also like to share with you something that happened during the service. We got to the service a little late and we must have missed someone who was passing out the small LED candles for the kids. When it came time for the kids to turn on the candles and hold them up while everyone sings, our 3yr old son Collan, didn't have one. The young girl that was sitting in front of us turned around and gave Collan her candle. We didn't know her, or her family, but she kindly gave it to Collan to use. Then another girl in front of her must have heard what was going on and turned around and gave her candle to the girl that just gave hers to Collan. It touched my heart. It's moments like that, which lets you know that there is still some good left in the world. It was one of the purest kinds of giving. I am glad to be part of this congregation and family."
Sisters and brothers, Lord of Life has always been a place where Hope, Love, Joy and Peace...Light, Love, Grace and Truth (Our themes for Advent and Christmas) are clearly evident. May the notes keep coming and the ministry keep unfolding as we journey together through 2016 and beyond...until the Lord comes again!
Your Brother in Christ, Pastor David Jones

Christmas Eve Thanks!
How many people does it take to "staff" four Christmas Eve services? Would you believe 52 worship servants, 10 children's play voices and puppeteers, 10 New Life Choir members, 9 instrumentalists, 6 Celebration Ringers, and 7 soloists/duets and 2 pastors! That's 106 people! Our thanks to everyone of you for the part you played in welcoming over 800 people to celebrate the birthday of our King!
======================================================
Volunteer Spotlight!
Special thanks go to Santa's elves, Tim and Myra Bell, Ruth Rinck, and Brett Reich, for packing and delivering four carloads of Christmas gifts on Monday, Dec 21; and to all members of Lord of Life who shopped for and provided the wonderful array of 325 gifts! The generous gifts placed under the giving tree enabled families helped by the Christian Caring Center in Browns Mills to provide a joyful Christmas morning and memories for their children. Thank you all for your caring hearts!
========================================= Dear Choir (Christmas Carolers), Thank you so much for blending your beautiful voices and bringing such beautiful Christmas Carols to our Park. I love the gifts the children make. They decorate my little trees year after year. You are so appreciated! Sincerely, The Greens

Cookie Trays
Thank you to everyone who baked and bought cookie trays. We raised over $800 with all of the proceeds going to help the Snodgrass family while their daughter Summer is continuing to receive care at Children's hospital. Our efforts more than doubled what we made last year. Thank you to everyone.
Social Ministry
Our committee met on January 5th to begin planning our efforts for 2016. We looked back and noted what a great success 2015 was and saw that the many outreach efforts benefitted so many people and charities. Everyone in Lord of Life has participated in some way to these efforts and you are to be commended.
We discussed some new opportunities that we will take to council and will report to the congregation our plans for 2016 once they have been approved. Our intent is to maintain and expand upon the efforts that we put forth last year. We encourage everyone to stay involved and consider getting involved in the new outreach opportunities. Stay tuned.

Sleep Mats for the Homeless
|
Making sleep mats for the homeless at
Faith Presbyterian Church, 318 Stokes Road in Medford
We will teach you how to:
- Flatten bags and cut bags into strips
- Join the strips into a strand and roll them in a ball
- Crochet the plastic into a six foot mat with a pillow pocket.
You can join us each week to assist our ministry or learn the techniques and start your own project. We donate the mats to the Christian Caring Center in Pemberton
(http://www.christiancaringcenter.net/) for their ministry to the homeless. For people sleeping outside, the mats keep them off of the ground, provide cushioning and are unaffected by moisture. It takes about 900 bags to make one mat. But if you have the bags, all you need are scissors and a large crochet hook.
Detailed instructions are listed at this link: sleep-mats-for-the-homeless
IF you can bring plastic shopping bags to the church & put them in the tub marked for them (in the foyer) it would be greatly appreciated!!

GOFUNDME for Snodgrass Family
|

Reminder about Summer Snodgrass, below is a link for a "Go Fund Me" page set up for her and her family:
|
Just a reminder - Haiti sewing class graduating. When this class graduates in March, they will be given a portable electric sewing machine. The cost of each machine is less than the treadle by one third. I will be able to ship twelve machines for $300, where twelve treadles would cost $1200. If anyone has a portable electric machine that they would like to donate, please let me know. The machine can be new or old as long as it works.
Once again I ask for your prayers during my upcoming trip and thank you for your continued support. - Penny Miller
