Back in 2013 the ELCA began a campaign called Always Being Made New. The idea was to revitalize the ministry of the church in new and exciting ways. The campaign itself met with mixed results but the phrase and the general idea have a lot of staying power for us as individuals and as a community of faith. That phrase has been stuck in my head now for a while as I've been looking at where we're headed together this Fall.
Lamentations 3:22-23a says - The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. And 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us - So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
When you wake up in the morning are you able to recognize the steadfast love of the Lord in your life as you swing your legs off the bed and place your feet on the floor and head to the shower, or your first cup of coffee, or that bowl of Rice Krispies? Are you able to see every day you take breath as a fresh start and an opportunity for an encounter with the living Christ, in whom you have a new lease on life even in the midst of the routine of work and school and a whole lot of other things?
Give yourself the opportunity this weekend to experience what Lamentations and 2 Corinthians really mean for us as the children of God in this place. Give yourself the chance to find out what NEW thing God has in store for you through Worship, Fellowship, and Faith Formation. You can count on it! God has said so!
Peace - Pastor Sue

If you have a love of children and desire to serve this is the opportunity for you! With our new Sunday morning schedule we are in need of dedicated folks to help with the Nursery. There are two opportunities. The first is during the Faith Formation time beginning at 9:30 and ending at 10:15. The second is for the period of time during the sermon at the 10:30 service which lasts approximately 15 minutes. This opportunity is also open to Senior High age youth.
All volunteers will need to have taken Child Protection Training. A class will be arranged for any volunteers who have not yet had the chance to participate in the training.
If you can help, please contact Bettyjane Watkins at b.j.watkins@comcast.net or Lu Hourihan at luciah13@verizon.net. Thank you for your support!

I would like to thank everyone who prayed for my grandson Holden Cranmer. He was in the NICU and is now home with a clean bill of health I reached out because I truly believe in the Power of Prayer and boy did it work. We are all so grateful for all your thoughts, prayers and kind words during that difficult time. Special thanks to Pastor Jones and Pastor Sue for taking time to call and check up on the progress of Holden. Thank you all again. Praise Be To God!
Blessings, Betty Mastrillo

We owe a debt of gratitude to Tina Leach for her outstanding service over the past 3 years as the Junior High Mission Trip Coordinator. Tina supported this student ministry by developing and leading opportunities to serve Jesus and our neighbors at various locations away from Lord of Life, from Lancaster, PA to Washington, DC. These opportunities varied from serving meals to the hungry, gleaning in farm fields, moving furniture, collecting and sorting donations which became supplies for everyday life for the recipients, to writing welcome notes to refugees and many, many more services. Tina made sure that each trip was filled with learning, serving and celebrating memories for all, students and chaperones, who were fortunate enough to participate. We pray for God's continued blessings on Tina as she steps away from this Coordinator's role to pursue other opportunities.
Thank you, Tina, on behalf of all members of Lord of Life. -

"Meet the Council" - Jim Moll
|
Hi - My name is Jim Moll and I am a council member on the Support Ministry team.
Born and raised in Pennsauken, both Traci and I moved to Lake Pine in Medford 1992 but remained members of Martin Luther Chapel there until our family joined Lord of Life back in 2010. Our two girls, Devon - 17 and Quinlyn - 10 attend Shawnee High School and Cranberry Pines Elementary School respectively. We primarily attend the 10am (now 10:30) service where you may see Devon playing flute with the praise team.
I currently work for TD Bank in the IT department as a team manager where our group supports the US Contact Centers. A couple of years back I was able to lend my talents when The Grace Place was looking for a dedicated webpage and worked with the Grace Place Board and staff on defining the design and on getting it implemented. I look forward to contributing additionally on the Support Ministry team.

Men's Ministry - Workshop
|
Lord of Life Men's Ministry is trying to get a few men together to attend a "Lutheran Men in Mission" one day workshop that that is being held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Somerville NJ on Saturday, October 3rd.
Lutheran Men in Mission's Building Men for Christ Workshop is an all-day event designed to help congregations increase the participation of men by creating an intentional ministry for men. The workshop describes the types of relationships that men enter into, outlines the different types of men that exist in a church community, and provides useful ways to connect to these guys. Almost 500 people from across the USA have participated in one of these workshops and found their time to be very well spent.
LMM will be conducting this workshop at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Somerville, NJ on Saturday, October 3rd from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The early registration cost is only $49 and includes a copy of the book No Man Left Behind, a deck of ManTalk cards, and a workshop notebook. Register before 9/19/15 to get the special reduced rate. Cost goes back to the regular price of $69 after 9/19/15
If interested please contact Rick Osman @ ossie3rick@aol.com or (609) 268-0336. We will be arranging a car pool to drive up.

Backpacks for kids Lord of Life out did itself this year exceeding our goal of collecting 100 backpacks. Through the efforts of the vacation bible school and the congregations generous donations, we collected 105 backpacks. Not all of the backpacks were full but we also collected a ton of supplies to go in them. Forty-five back packs were filled and given to Bridge of Peace. Sixty back packs went to the Christian Caring Center. We fulfilled the goal for Bridge of Peace but the Christian Caring Center needed 250 back packs for those who signed up and they had a waiting list for others who had a need. Our donation went a long way toward meeting their goals. Thank you to everyone who helped make this program a tremendous success! You made lots of kids happy. Future events We have a number of Sunday after services volunteer events planned this fall including planning to work at the Habitat restore in Maple Shade unloading trucks. We are also continuing to do our road clean ups and plan to have one this month. We are planning a work day/clean up at the YMCA Camp. We will be doing some early autumn gleaning at a local farm. Please watch your bulletin for dates and times. These events are family friendly for all ages so we hope that you and your family members will participate as a group. |

LifeLines Editor(s) needed!
|
Yeah we get it - you aren't looking for something else to do. But your church needs you. We need a new editor of the LifeLines - the old one needs to move on to other areas. The current editing process is online and easy to use - as much training as is needed is available, but basic use of a web browser on any mac or pc is really all that is needed. It can be done anytime at home (or at church if a computer is needed). Or if 2 or more people are interested it could be a co-editor position which makes it much easier! About 4-5 hours are needed every 2 weeks (with current schedule of 26 issues / year). If you'd like to explore what is involved please email lifelines@lordlife.us and we will give you a demo, or you can ask Bill or Sue Dreisbach for more information. Thanks for considering this ministry opportunity!
