Brothers and Sisters...
Jesus once said, "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock." (Matthew 7: 24-25)
The Men's Ministry of Lord of Life has been securely founded on the rock of Jesus Christ which prompts this gathering of Christian brothers to repeatedly "put their faith into action!" Since Spring 2013, this ministry has shared in and provided numerous opportunities for members and friends (including women, girls and boys) to practice what Jesus preaches.
Are you aware that from September through July you can find 10-12 men gathering in the back room of the Red Lion Diner sharing breakfast, fellowship, faithful conversation and prayer? And there is always room at the table for you!
Did you know that men's ministry is working with the Property Team as it helps convene willing volunteers to tackle projects around the church, both indoors and outdoors, on several Saturday mornings in the Fall, Winter and Spring? More helping hands are always welcome!
Have you heard about the first "Boys Night Out" event for Senior High boys and their Dads held last month at the Pine Belt Sportsmen's Club where 16 of us learned to trap shoot and then hear about the Second Amendment from the US Constitution and Jesus' Sermon on the Mount telling us "how blessed are the peacemakers."? Look for more future events...coming soon!
And can you believe that in the last 13 months, 24 men have been engaged in servant ministry as they participated in a variety of projects as "Brothers for Others"?
...working side-by-side with volunteers from across the USA during the Fuller Center Legacy Build in Atlantic City where over 20 homes were rehabbed for local residents.
...helping to sponsor and complete the renovations on the Nuygen Family home in Ventnor where a variety of groups of volunteers spent several months making this house fully livable.
...participating in the Senior High Mission Trip to the Jersey Shore / Delaware Bay to coach youth as they cleaned up yards and rehabbed and renovated homes devastated by Super Storm Sandy.
...supporting the Sunbury Family as they recovered from a water pipe break in their home over Christmas vacation that left six feet of water in their basement forcing them to leave their residence and which required help in cleaning, sorting, demolition and further assistance.
...getting Peter MacDonald's house ready for a new tenant within 2 weeks as he suddenly prepared to move to California where he was transferred by his New Jersey employer, Lowes. This project required a lot of grunt work to move the process along.
...returning to the Jersey Shore / Delaware Bay (Port Elizabeth) region during a mini Mission Trip to help the Morgan Family recover from SSS as we installed dry wall in the living room and dining room of their 250 year old house; responding to a request from the Cumberland County Long Term Recovery group.
Men's Ministry is alive and well at LOL and is always looking to engage more members and friends in learning, serving and celebrating as God's Easter people! For further info about how you can get engaged, please contact Rick Osman (609-268-0336) or ossie3rick@aol.com.

Coming Soon! Mark your calendars for July 28 thru Aug 1, 2014

Yes finally spring has arrived and isn't it nice to see all the colorful flowers and the nice green grass. However the grass will need cutting every week and with that we will need folks to do the job. We have a few push mowers and a tractor to do the job. (the tractor as of this writing is out for repairs.- but will be back in action soon.) This would make a great father-son project working together and helping your church at the same time. If you have a child in the confirmation class this may be used as a service project.
Usually the cutting is done toward the end of each week (Thurs. Fri. Sat.) and can be done on your time schedule.. There are tons of weeds to be pulled also - so why not make it a family affair.
There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board - please consider helping and making our church more attractive.. The more folks that sign up the fewer times you would have to do it. We usually cut through the month of October.
Get in touch with Barbara Wagner with any questions. (lol_prez@lordlife.us)

LOL Senior High Mission Trip - Oneida, New York
|

About this Trip: This June, our Lord of Life teens and adults will be traveling to the center of New York State; a place called Oneida. Why there you ask?
Last June 27th, Oneida had a "100 year flood". Sound familiar? It has been ten years since our own "100 year flood". Today I stood in the center of what was the flooded area. It was quite eerie. People have resumed everyday life but are coping with the question "do we rebuild" and "how can we afford to rebuild"? This is where Lord of Life comes in.
We have always been a giving, caring community. Now another community just like our own needs help. If you know of a high school teen or an adult that would like to go, the forms are on the bulletin board in the entrance of the church. Please complete and hand in your deposit to get on the list immediately.
We will be partnering with St. Paul's Methodist Church in Oneida doing rebuilding work June 22 through June 27th. For those of you that can't go, you may still partner with us by purchasing "Miles to Oneida". This helps pay for the gas and vans we rent to go on the trip.
Car Wash/Bake Sale The Senior High Mission Trip Team will be holding a car wash/bake sale on Saturday, May 17th, from 9 am until noon. If you would like to donate a baked good, please feel free to drop it off in the church kitchen before Saturday with a note what it is.

Fuller Center of the New Jersey Pines
|
Did you know that the Fuller Center NJ Pines had committed to working in Atlantic County into 2015? Although the 'Lord of Life' sponsored house was completed, there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer during the week and on some weekends. Homes are still being refurbished and some homes have received state grants and are being raised to avoid future flooding. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Neil or Merle Brown respectively at nmlrib@juno.com or mbrown@thebeneficial.com .
