Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
This last weekend marked a special time for all of us. It was the day we celebrate the reason for us to even have a church, to BE church. It was EASTER Sunday! As the apostle Paul wrote in his 1st letter to the Corinthians: "..if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is futile and your faith is empty." It is on this one event, this one proclamation, that all of our faith stands.
Have you ever thought about it? Have you ever considered that if not for His death and resurrection what would be the point of our faith? I know I have, many times. I have questioned and pondered and wrestled with the reality and the truth of the resurrection more than one time in my life. After all, I'm not only a pastor, I am also an engineer and a process person and a problem solver. My default is practical and logical and I learn by doing. I am precisely the kind of person who might never have become a person of faith at all.
But I am also a person who has seen and experienced both tragedy and triumph, suffering and joy; in my own life as well as the lives of others. And I have seen and experienced how faith has the power to turn tragedy and suffering into triumph and joy, to shine light into darkness, and bring hope in even the most hopeless of circumstances. It's not logical. But it is REAL! It is TRUTH! My truth... Our truth... And logical or not, as Martin Luther said, "Here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God. Amen"
May this Easter season be an opportunity for you to question and ponder and wrestle with the reality and the truth of the resurrection; for the possibilities that only the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus can bring to your life both in the here and now and the hereafter! And join me in shouting from the rooftops - Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia! Amen!
Peace - Pastor Sue

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!
- To everyone who helped to make our Holy Week special, from musicians, to those assisting with worship, to the women who assisted with the Holy Thursday meal!
- To Donna Yates, Fran and Chuck Bubeck, Kris and Erin Gordon, and Sue Dreisbach for their invaluable support in making the First Holy Communion events happen this year. And especially for their making it special for the children.
- To Judy Burgo, Bettyjane Watkins, Doreen Bourbon and many other Sunday School teachers and volunteers who helped with our special Sunday School during the Easter Sunday 9:45 service.
- To Dave and Doris Miller for the amazing work they are doing in helping us take care of the church building!
- To Bill Dreisbach for spearheading our "tech" team. Especially for his hard work in getting new projectors mounted in the sanctuary in time for Holy Week, and for upgrading the operating systems and Office software on all the church computers!
And to so many more of you who in big and small ways make such amazing things happen both at Lord of Life and beyond...

LOL Senior High Mission Trip - Oneida, New York
|
About this Trip: This June, our Lord of Life teens and adults will be traveling to the center of New York State; a place called Oneida. Why there you ask?
Last June 27th, Oneida had a "100 year flood". Sound familiar? It has been ten years since our own "100 year flood". Today I stood in the center of what was the flooded area. It was quite eerie. People have resumed everyday life but are coping with the question "do we rebuild" and "how can we afford to rebuild"? This is where Lord of Life comes in.
We have always been a giving, caring community. Now another community just like our own needs help. If you know of a high school teen or an adult that would like to go, the forms are on the bulletin board in the entrance of the church. Please complete and hand in your deposit to get on the list immediately.
We will be partnering with St. Paul's Methodist Church in Oneida doing rebuilding work June 22 through June 27th. For those of you that can't go, you may still partner with us by purchasing "Miles to Oneida". This helps pay for the gas and vans we rent to go on the trip.
Tool training will be held on Saturday, May 3rd. We will meet at Lord of Life at 8:30am and travel to Port Elizabeth, NJ to train "on the job". Any questions, see Jill Glossner or Pastor Jones.
Car Wash/Bake Sale The Senior High Mission Trip Team will be holding a car wash/bake sale on Saturday, May 17th, from 9 am until noon. If you would like to donate a baked good, please feel free to drop it off in the church kitchen before Saturday with a note what it is.

A special thank you goes out to Graham and Rich Watson for spreading the twenty yards of mulch in the school playground in just two days. Wonderful job!!!
On Friday, April 11th, the Lord of Life parking lot was filled with many shapes and colors of bicycles, big wheels and other assortment of riding machines. Yes, it was the day of the annual Grace Place Trike a Thon.
Twenty-eight children rode for thirty minutes to raise money for St. Judes Children's Hospital. Collectively, they rode over 700 laps and raised just over $1,700.00. What an awesome withness Grace Place children became that day. And they had fun!!!
Thursday, April 17th Grace Place Preschool put on their Easter finest and treated everyone in attendance to a wonderful depiction of the Easter Story. Ms. Jill's 3 year olds handled the story boards while Ms. Ruth's class bounded out with enthusiasm six different songs with hand motions. The packed room thoroughly enjoyed the joyful voices and the story. Thanks to Ms. Sue Dreisbach for the music lessons to make the show the success that it was.

Homes are still being refurbished and some homes have received state grants and are being raised to avoid future flooding. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Neil or Merle Brown respectively at nmlrib@juno.com or mbrown@thebeneficial.com .
