Academic Term 2014-15
November News

October was an exciting month at GSTC and we've got more excitement this week. Thank you to all of the parents who attended our first Observation Week of the term in October. All of the teachers were thrilled with the turnout and with the students' enthusiasm to share their talents with you. All of the students did a fantastic job - and they looked so cute in their costumes! If you were unable to attend, mark your calendars for our next observation week December 8-12.

GSTC instructors have been hard at work selecting music and costumes for the year-end annual student production. When you return to classes this week, selected class costumes will be posted, measurements will be taken, and payments will be collected. You can read more about the student production and Costume Carnival below.

And with Thanksgiving just a week away, it's the perfect time for us to give special thanks for and to the wonderful parents at GSTC. Thank you for all you do! We truly love sharing our time and talents with your kids.

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday!

Best regards,

Costume Carnival - November 17-20

This year's Costume Carnival will take place this week, November 17-20. During the week-long celebration, students will be measured for their dance recital costumes during classes, and photos of the selected class costumes will be revealed. Payments for costumes will also be collected this week.

Parents should pick up a costume order form available on the table in the front hall, complete it and leave it in the box provided. Payment options to be selected on the form include the following choices: Have us auto-charge your account; log in independently and pay online at myGSTC; or, simply attach a check to your order form. All payments are due by Thursday, November 20, to avoid a late fee.

Costumes remain $55 for students in the Pre-K division (Tiny Tot & Discover Dance) and $65 for students in the Elementary, Intermediate, Teen and Advanced divisions (Grades K-12).

A $35 Production Fee per family is also due and goes toward general production costs and facility rental. We do not sell tickets to the production; admission is free.

Costumes will be ordered immediately upon payment to ensure their timely arrival next Spring. Costume forms not submitted and paid for by November 20th will incur a $15 per costume add-on fee. Payment can be made online or at the desk by cash, check, or online by MasterCard or Visa.

PLEASE NOTE: This November newsletter was scheduled to be delivered Monday, however, our mail delivery system was inaccessible. As a courtesy, we're extending our costume payment deadline to next Monday, November 24.

Thanksgiving Break - November 25-30

The studio will be closed Tuesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 30. Regular classes will be held Monday, November 24. Please mark your calendars.

"Navigating Dance" series - December 3 at 7 p.m.

Your child loves to dance! Now what?

Now, it's time to join Alyssa Scotten for a valuable discussion about navigating your child's experience in dance. The first of our four talks at the studio will be on Wednesday, December 3 from 7-8 p.m. Alyssa will cover a variety of topics to provide parents the tools and information they need to make better-informed decisions about their child's dance education from pre-school to college. The talks are free and open to the public.

To enhance these discussions, Alyssa wants to hear from you! Do you have a specific question about dance? If so, please ask. Email your questions to [email protected] and be sure to reference "Navigating Dance" in the subject line of your email. Alyssa will answer select questions throughout the series.

Educating children in dance is our passion; educating parents is our responsibility. We hope you're available to attend one or all of Alyssa's talks. We look forward to seeing you there.
