IFTA Might Replace Decals With an Electronic System

truck-countryside.jpg Some truckers can still remember the days when many states required you to stop before you left the state, report your miles and pay any fuel tax due, if you did not buy enough fuel while passing through. 2015 Unified Carrier Registration

This document if you are not familiar with grants authority to operate, except that it lists the individual states and provinces that the authority is good for. Even though more than a year has passed since its adoption, the verdict is still not in on whether or not the rule achieved what it intended, i.e. increase driving safety. Drivers themselves are split in their opinions about the FMCSA's decision to mandate the hours-of-service rule, so taking a look at its pros and cons might give us a better idea of the effects of the rule.
