Rising Chorus of Republicans Oppose Sales Tax Increase

 Well, it turns out that we were not alone in opposing the Sales Tax Increase that will be on the ballot on May 5th. In addition to the Saginaw County Republican Party, which passed a resolution urging a NO vote very early in the game, Republican organizations and officials around Michigan have been lining up against the tax. And the various county parties and committees have passed their resolutions either unanimously or nearly so. Here's a listing of known official Republican opposition, and I'm sure it will grow.

4th Congressional District Committee Meeting

The next 4th Congressional District Executive Committee meeting will be held on TONIGHT, March 23rd at Cheers, 1700 W. High St, Mount Pleasant. The meeting is from 6:00-8:00pm and appetizers, soft drinks and coffee will be available beginning at 5:30pm. While this is a voting meeting of the District Committee, it is also open to all Republicans to attend. There will be update reports from Congressman John Moolenaar's office, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette's office, and updates from the county parties that make up the district.

Dr. Ben Carson to Speak at Alma College

Dr. Ben Carson will be addressing the campus and community on April 1st at the Remick Heritage Center, Presbyterian Hall, Alma College. The event is from 8:00-10:00pm and tickets are limited.
Dr. Benjamin Carson is emeritus professor of neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he directed pediatric neurosurgery for 29 years. Dr. Carson is author of several books on leadership and will present "Take the Risk: A Rational Approach to Taking Risks."

Saginaw County Republican Women's Club Meeting

The Saginaw County Republican Women's Club will host Russian immigrant Yvanna Konetchy at their next meeting on meeting on April 16th. Her topic will be "Growing up with Communism and the U.S. today". She is requesting an interactive conversation, so please come with questions.
