Dear Fellow Saginaw GOP Republicans,
I would like to express my appreciation to all of you that attended last Wednesday's meeting despite the bad weather and noise factor. It was heart-warming to see all the support given to the new board. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work! The ground work for our success has begun with the formation of our individual committees. Our secretary, Kathy Dwan, has secured the Thomas Township Safety Building for the second Thursday of every month for meetings, but we can cancel as necessary.
I will be calling a short meeting for the Events Committee, and members will be notified in a separate e-mail. Please meet me at 6:00pm on February 12th, 2015 before the regular meeting to discuss Lincoln Day if you are interested in helping out with that this year.
Also, just a reminder that our County Convention is on February 5th, 2015; see details below.
Thank you for your continued support! Sincerely, Amy Carl, Chair

Common Core State Standards Informational Discussion
|
During 2015, the Saginaw County Republican Women's Club will be sponsoring a monthly "Informational Common Core State Standards Open House" at the home of Sandra Kahn, 4520 Midland Road, Saginaw. The meetings will begin at 7:00pm. These meetings will be held regularly on the third Tuesday of each month: the next meeting will be on February 17th.
As of the 2014 school year, Common Core State Standards were mandated for all Michigan Public Schools (and participating Private Schools). Unfortunately, the general public has received sparse information about this significant change in Michigan Education. These open houses are intended to provide CCSS information, share opinions and experiences and to explore legislative options as they relate to "who controls Education in Michigan". Parents, grandparents, teachers and school board members are especially invited! In spite of our Club name, this issue is totally non-parisan and gender neutral.
No reservation needed - just stop in and bring a friend. Contact Sandra Kahn for more information. |
