Michigan Senate Passes A National Defense Authorization Nullification Bill
Michigan is poised to join a growing list of states that refuse to enforce a portion of the The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The Michigan Senate approved Senate Bill 94 ( SB94) on a 37-0 vote, which states that, "no member of the Michigan National Guard on active state service shall aid an agency of the armed forces of the United States in any investigation, prosecution, or detention of any person pursuant to section 1021 of the national defense authorization act for fiscal year 2012." While the ban only covers one year, it does show the federal government that Michigan is seriously objecting to the use of the Army for investigation and detention of citizens. The US Supreme Court has affirmed previously that state agents cannot be compelled by Congress to enforce federal laws. The bill now moves to the Michigan House, so if you want to preserve this piece of liberty, encourage your representative to approve the bill. Representatives for parts of Saginaw County are: Tim Kelly (R) District 94, Ben Glardon (R) District 85, Stacy Erwin Oakes (D) District 95. |

If you wan t to stand up for your 2nd Amendment rights, here's an opportunity to join with like-minded folks. Several groups have joined to sponsor a March To The Capitol on March 20th in Lansing. The March begins on the corners of Pennsylvania and Michigan Av at 9:30am (or you can go directly to Capitol if you do not wish to march).
Sponsors are MCRGO (MI Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners), MI Open Carry, Inc., Students for Concealed Carry and MGO (MI Gun Onwers). The intent is to peaceably assemble at our State Capitol to send the message to our legislature and others that Michigan understands what "shall not be infringed" means and we will not tolerate unconstitutional actions pertaining to that right!
