Do you want to help guide the future of Allen? Consider volunteering for the city's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). With support from city staff, interested residents will help identify and prioritize immediate infrastructure and facility needs for the Allen community. These recommendations will be presented to Allen City Council for a future bond election.

Earlier this week, council members appointed a six-member steering committee to lead this effort. The committee consists of community volunteers led by former Allen Mayor, Dr. Joe Farmer. All Allen residents are eligible to serve on subcommittees, which include finance, public facilities, parks and recreation, streets and drainage, and public safety.

Subcommittees will meet weekly at Allen High School during October and November. Meetings will take place on Thursday evenings, beginning at 7 p.m. To help plan for attendance and ensure you receive information on upcoming meetings, please complete this formYou can learn more at CityOfAllen.org/AllenBond2016.

Honoring Thirty Years of Community Service
While celebrating its 30th anniversary this week, Allen Community Outreach (ACO) recognized the City of Allen as a long-standing partner. The City uses a portion of the federally-funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to provide emergency assistance to Allen residents through programs at ACO. Over the past 30 years, Allen's contributions to ACO have exceeded $100,000.

ACO is one of the many organizations that help Allen residents in need of financial or emotional assistance. You can find a list of others at CityofAllen.org. You can read more about Allen's use of CDBG funds here.
