Low unemployment, steady job growth and affordable home prices earned Allen the #2 spot in a list of the nation's healthiest housing markets. The ranking, assembled by personal finance website WalletHub, compared 300 U.S. cities using metrics such as foreclosure rates, price appreciation, and average number of days until a house is sold.

North Texas was well represented in the rankings, with Frisco, Plano, Carrollton, McKinney and Richardson all included in the Top 10. Though Frisco scored slightly higher in the overall list, Allen ranked #1 for "Affordability & Economic Environment." View the full report.
Get Creative Classroom and Field Trip Ideas at the 2015 Educator Expo
Are you a teacher, home schooling parent, scout leader or other educator? Then mark your calendar for the 2015 Educator Expo hosted by Keep Allen Beautiful and the City of Allen. The event gives educators an opportunity to learn about the free programs offered through the City of Allen and local partners, including field trips, classroom presentations and lesson plans.

You will also have an opportunity to meet exhibitors who specialize in specific TEKS requirements and can customize lesson plans for in or out of the classroom. Each educator will receive a copy of the annual Education & Outreach Guide, which includes a list of programs and activities.

The 2015 Educator Expo will be held on Tuesday, Sep. 29 from 4-6 p.m. at the Allen Senior Recreation Center (451 E. St. Mary Drive). Admission is free. Register early to enter prize drawings at CityofAllen.org/EducatorExpo.

If you'r looking for a new activity to enjoy with family or friends, consider booking a round of FootGolf at The Courses at Watters Creek. (To see the game in action, check out this video from Allen City TV.)
